Were you at the last few matches Watford.. have you seen Smithies save penalties and pick up MofM awards???
....and another ex-R, Damien Delaney, conceded the penalty allowing Liverpool to win 2-1 with 10 men. Perhaps learnt too much watching Rob Green on our bench? Crystal Palace 1-1 Liverpool Roberto Firmino Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. What a clanger from Palace keeper Alex McCarthy! He duffs a straightforward, run-of-the-mill, regulation clearance straight to Roberto Firmino, who takes a touch and strokes home. A complete and utter gift. please log in to view this image All over! Damien Delaney's stoppage-time challenge proves costly and Palace are still without a win... Re: Pardew's comment regarding the linesman - same didn't apply for us yesterday. Highs and lows' Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool please log in to view this image Alex McCarthy Alex_Macca23 Football is a game of high and lows, I'm sorry to all you palace fans but I didn't mean to slip! Great support as always! Alan Pardew speaking to Sky Sports: “We didn't get any pressure on them when they went down to 10. Up to that we were good and deserved to be in front. “The keeper made a mistake, which cost us and made us edgy from that point and we never lost that edginess for the rest of the game. “He [Benteke] certainly made a big meal of it. If it had been us, we would not have got it. “I’m frustrated because I looked at the referee. He was not going to give it and then he looked at the linesman who gave it. “It was a game we should have come away with and we didn't.” Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew: "[Christian Benteke] is looking for it. Our player is pulling out of it. If the linesman gives it for the touch of the knee in the last minute I think it is harsh. Damien Delaney literally pulls out of it and the follow through of his knee gets it. Blimey, that's tough." "You've got to be 100% sure. In super slow motion the knee touches the foot and he goes over like he's been shot. In the last second of the game, are you going to give a penalty then?" Alan Pardew is clearly frustrated and has a bit of a tussle with Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves: "Let's not get into a debate here and you try to antagonise me. I don't want to get into a debate about this penalty, that's my opinion, let's move on." http://www.bbc.com/sport/live/football/35474683
I blame the lawmakers rather than the referee (or lino in this case). The idea that "contact is a foul" is now established and there's no discouragement to stop players trying it. Two MK players booked for diving yesterday on top of two incredibly soft penalties. Not seen that for some time.
yeah those players must be gutted being in the Premiership playing against Liverpool while we are losing to MK Plastics.
I don't think I've ever seen a team get as many soft penalties as Liverpool always seem to do. It's as worse now as in the 80s for it - when Jan Molby won the Golden Boot 5 times in a row (all pens).
