In another twist in the long-running O.J. Simpson saga, Los Angeles police are investigating and testing a knife that was recovered on property once owned by the former football star. The elite Robbery Homicide Division is investigating a buck knife now in possession of the department. Went to see "Hail Caesar" last night. Typically quirky Coen brothers film, but I enjoyed it. on brilliant part where the studio get religious leaders together to discuss the (religious) movie and they end up arguing about the son of God .... Or otherwise. I loved that bit!
As mentioned before, I seem not to be a member of the Coen Brothers Appreciation Society. I've found that I do like the odd CB film, but it has little to do with it actually being a CB film, but rather more whether the film appeals to me. It's about 50/50 which, I would imagine, is about the same as for any other creators from the film industry. Nevertheless, I'll look out for it. On the other hand, I watched Philomena last night, starring Judy Dench and Steve Coogan. Co-written by Coogan, it's close enough to the original events, via Martin Sixsmith's book, as to be taken as enjoyed. And it is an enjoyable film in the end, though anyone but the cruellest would have no problem empathising with a mother who had her young boy taken away from her without a word, never to see him again. And in the separation of long years of hope and despair lies the grief. It's a gut-wrencher in that respect, yet there are enough moments of tender comedy to set against the pathos. Coogan once again writes against his character, Alan Partridge style, in that he makes him comically unfeeling at times, but it surfaces as English reserve rather than sheer ignorance. Judy Dench is as good as usual. You may find that you're Googling the actions of the Irish Catholic Church afterwards. Was there something else behind it....one of those idiots was in his sixties!! They destroyed some cars and drove into a house....revenge for something perhaps. As you said, could have killed someone, but also they have put a valuable fire engine out of service.

I think there's too much variety in CB's movies for there to be many people who love all of them. I love TBL, and like a few of their films that are similler to that in terms of snappy dialogue. I never really forgave them for remaking The Lady Killers... Although I guess just because of TBL, I've let them off with a warning.

So my friend started a course. Managered to get a student loan etc (so pays back the loan £7 a month after he earns £20k+). But due to him taking a turn for the worse mentally (he has bad depression) , he wants to stop his course. Will he be in trouble? Or will the student loan remain in place?
The Ladykillers remake was the worst thing they've ever done, and utterly pointless. But Fargo alone was enough to cement their place in movie history.
Indeed. I spoke to a younger relative about that, who hadn't seen the original. She said she thought it was awful, so it didn't even get a good review without the comparison. She's going to watch the original, which I think is a stand-out Ealing film, and they made many good-uns.
Is it a proper student loan (ie from government) or private? If proper then it doesn't matter, the same repayment rules will apply.
