    Our corner kicking was rubbish throughout, even after he came on he wasn't taking some of them, and even he cocked one up, the ball went out and came back on to the pitch. At least he showed some mobility, in the first half the sideways, backwards movement was really getting my goat. How many time was the ball fed between VVD and Fonte, when they looked for an outlet pass there was no movement whatsoever and ended up with hoofball to Pelle and the inevitable loss of possession.

    OK, not 24 hours but plenty of time to mull it over.

    When an opponent sets up to defend, you're guaranteed a response like this. Every pass that could be threatening does go astray (there are two defenders to every attacker) and when a ball's 50:50 it seems to bobble to their feet (because there are two defenders to every attacker).

    Last season we were the ones doing it - we reached the point where I didn't tense up when our opponents attacked as I knew we'd frustrate it. If you took a look at other team's boards after they played us last season many of the comments were the same as on here. Do you really think that we're the only team who have trouble breaking down stubborn defences? You should hear my Arsenal-supporting mate on their utter inadequacy in that situation.

    So, it was always going to be a tough and hard-fought game. Going to see Sunderland playing away from home and expecting a free-flowing and exciting football match is a fool's errand.

    Praise all that it holy that our team had more guts than a bundle of posters on here who gave up the game as lost. They kept on slugging it out. It might be worth learning something from that...

    He didn't really jump on you for what you said. He asked where you were when we were winning and why you disappear when the sun's shining. Your response was to ignore him and now brand him a WUM. It's certainly your choice when to post but given that your last post about a game was after the Norwich loss, just before our form turned, it's fair for someone to point it out and wonder why.

    Don't you think "I'd rather be me than you mate" "Just another Neghead, only posts when things go badly" is not a inflammatory remark when there is a previous history of jumping all over my posts? Yes I post rarely here (sorry I am a busy man)but when I do I don't expect to be singled out by an individual repeatedly. Quite obvious that he was trying to get a rise out of me, my response was to ignore the little (expletive deleted) Yes perhaps I am a fiery abrasive character but I am tired of defending myself.

    Ignore FLT? He is one of the good guys on here! I haven't followed your exchange, but if proof of the danger of these text exchanges was needed this is it!

    No, the divorce is going well. That late goal cheered me considerably, but that sweet football with which we swept aside Bournemouth earlier this season seemed a long way away. Credit Sunderland of course.

    My final word but it does look suspiciously like you're only a "busy man" when we're winning. That looked like the basis of his remarks. As I say it's your choice when you post but a pattern like that gets noticed and is likely to elicit comment.

    Anyway, I have a Sunday dinner to cook...

    Don't. Please don't.

    I want him so badly, and consequently it is the one and only reason why I'd have liked Swansea to have gone down (which isn't happening now). My personal belief is that there is no way he would leave Swansea for us at the moment whilst we are both PL teams. Putting bias to one side, I simply don't think there is sufficient attraction there for him to jump from them to us - especially after his experience of seeing if the grass is greener when he left them for Spurs first time around.

    So I'm instead I'm sat here suffering, crying inside, every time I see him scoring (or creating) for Swansea.

    We could try this formation for the next couple of games:

    ====================Virgil====================
    =====Virgil======Virgil======Virgil======Virgil=====
    =====Virgil======Virgil======Virgil======Virgil=====
    =============Virgil==========Virgil=============

    As long as we're all aware that Sod's Law has decreed that Saints will almost certainly be the team to face Newcastle during their new manager bounce!

    Sigh - I post so rarely on this forum. Previous to yesterday was one time before our winning streak, previous to that was almost 2 years ago. So hardly a pattern and certainly doesn't merit a comment of "but it does look suspiciously like you're only a "busy man" when we're winning" As with FLT it helps if you get your facts right. Sorry buddy but I am only defending myself (yet again on this forum). Is it any wonder that I post so infrequently?

    No way has VVD got that profile, whether or not he can play for one of the top teams - so we're safe with him into next season. Even Toby didn't interest the big boys.

    Shouldn't that simply read "You sound like all women". The bugger is they are generally right!

    Agree, sadly. We missed the option when he left Spurs. However, not all lost if we grab our slim chance of Europa again.

    Having had a bit of a think, although I did say it at the time as well, I think Ron panicked a bit bringing on Yoshida. I can see why but Sunderland had just brought on Defoe and we didn't really need a big centre back to mark him. Bertrand has been playing in that position recently and arguably would have been a more appropriate type of player for the situation.
