They dont tell me anything. What i saw with my own eyes tell me that we didnt play like a home team should against a bottom side, even a bottom side well marshaled by Big Sam. But hey football is like that, im still looking forward to the next game with optimism cus we will prob start to ride the crest for a bit again !

It feels a bit of a disappointing season but we are 8th in the league above the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton.

We are the 8th best team in the best league in the world.

Right now I'll take that. Yes I want more wins, yes I want more goals, yes I would like more exciting performances, yes I want us to improve on last year, yes I never want to hear another justin bieber song ever again.

Even if some of the games are a bit dull, the talking points never are

Dreadful defending for the goal wasn't it?! In sorry but that is utterly awful from Yoshida

I will have to take your word for it about him being a nice fella. It's not the first time he's jumped all over something I've posted or singled me out for my opinion. I don't really care for people like that so instead of getting into a forum fight it's better to ignore the wum.

Once you start calling people names though, do you not expect people to respond? Anyway as you say better to ignore than to start a forum fight. As that usually ends up in our lap which we don't take too kindly to!

I bought Martina played fairly well. Had some good runs and some poor crosses, was okay on defense. What do you want from a backup RB?

Not sure why some are blaming the goal on Martina. Kirchhoff beat three men, that's why Dafoe was open.

He got behind VVD. Yoshida was covering Dafoe. Bertrand was hanging out. I think there was a miscommunication. Both Yoshida and Bertrand thought the other had it. Then Yoshida tried to close down, but way too late. That made it an easy pass to Dafoe, who simply took a step to create a passing angle the moment Yoshida left him and was rewarded with a sitter.

Martina really had nothing to do with it. He just looked bad because when the goal scored he was the nearest man. But he was not really close and was never going to get there.

Mate I didn't instigate any of this, just because the guy is a regular poster it doesn't mean he should get preferential treatment. Like I said wasn't the first time the fella has jumped all over something I have said. Name calling is for little boys in playgrounds.

We scored a goal in injury time while down to ten men. A beautifully worked team goal no less.

Does that sound like a bunch of overpaid professionals phoning it in?

    just like to
I agree with this again too!

Sadly some people just revel in negativity. Yes I'll get abused again, told I'm on happy pills and called a prick, no doubt, but it is true. We weren't good but we weren't that bad.

It's all about expectation yet Gaian. People thought we would steam roller them yesterday and because we didn't, they have a moan.

On Martina, my Dad said at half time, he thought Martina was doing well. I disagreed and said he'd been no more than ok. Second half he got forward really well, got some good crosses in and some bad crosses in and had a good shot saved. Defoe beats him to a ball in the box and now people allow that to cloud their judgement!

I just want to comment on this even though you won't see it.

I've not been name calling. I used the expression "miserable bastards" in my opening post after the game aimed as a general comment and not aimed at an individual. Everyone can see that. The thread was full of misery and negativity.

You called me a prick. You called me a WUM. You said I must be on drugs. That was the name calling. That was in reply to my post not aimed or replying to you. Instigation for the record.

The playground behaviour equally comes from those who only visit the forum to post and join in when we have a bad run. I don't think I've ever seen you when we are winning. Ever. Now if someone is going to suggest another poster is a WUM, I would suggest that could be aimed at a person who only ever posts when things are going badly.

I also feel that a person who posts in that pattern should be equally prepared to respond when questioned over that pattern.

However, having said all that I know I can be antagonistic and irregular posters may be over sensitive to this as clearly St K is. I think he needs to be a little less sensitive and be prepared to counter with discussion rather than toys being thrown out the pram. I apologise for being insensitive to him.

This is a Saints fans forum and one would expect the posters to be fans. Nothing wrong with criticising the club, team, players or manager but when that happens, you'd think there would be some expectation to have that countered. Where I feel the need to do that, I have done. There is also nothing wrong with people disagreeing or having a pop at me, as Lambo and Alfie did with references to my positivity when they posted. I was not offended by that in any way shape or form. It is part of the debate.

I can't be Arsed though to have this every time someone isn't capable of holding a discussion, or answer an obvious question, so maybe I am the bad one. Time I believe for me to step back.

Just watched MOTD (how nice to be able to do that!)....could have scored earlier, but so could they. Fonte took one for the team as he had to stop that player...amazing that it was his first red card...not bad going for a defender. Nicely taken goal from VVD....could be an important point, but mostly because it changes the morale of the team and fans. A third defeat would have been unbearable. A few games to go yet, but it looks like 7th is the best we can get, so doubt we will be in Europe. Stoke should be harder than Sunderland or Bournemouth, but who knows in this crazy season.

Step back from this thread if you like but please don't step back from this forum. I rarely post here but do sketch through the posts. Yes I often feel despondent about a Saints performance but it only lasts for a couple of days before I regain my enthusiasm for this club I love. I enjoy the differences of opinions on the forum and obviously don't always agree with yours but, in general, your observations reflect how I feel about Saints performances and status of the club. So I largely rely on you to get a balanced view of how we are really doing.

Certainly don't want FLT (or anyone) to leave the forum. Sometimes people have to learn to step away...arguments can start because people need the last word. If I realise I am not changing someone's POV, I give up....content in knowing I am right in my own head. My rule on a forum is state my view once and reply once...then I move on. The more volatile the subject...the more this is true.

I've learnt to live with being right all the time, but unappreciated. A burden I must bear. <laugh>

I have a similar problem on the subject of Forums, there are times that I would love to agree with a point of view, but then we would both be possibly wrong and that ain't right!

The team never gave up and scored a nice goal...and don't forget it started from Pelle chesting the ball down. After 2 losses, the team were desperate not to lose. No one was wandering about the pitch. Sunderland are not Aston Villa....they are showing fight and will probably get out of this. Our problem is we are not big scorers, so rely heavily on not conceding....fine, but that single goal can get through. I have no doubt about the character of the team and that late goal showed it.
