How ****e is Scottish football? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Malmö has had a pretty poor season, 9/16 right now. But they are beating "The Mighty Rangers" away right now :emoticon-0102-bigsm 1-0 efter 45 minutes

Cracking goal though, I must say :D

    Great goal <ok>

Obviously the fact that Malmo are half way through a domestic season will enhance their player's match fitness and performance, but I'm not trying to defend Rangers.

If they were thrown into the Championship, I don't think they would even contest for promotion. Pretty mediocre squad when you look at it.

It would be disastrous for Scottish football should Rangers not qualify for the Champions League proper, never mind not get through the first qualifying round (as 2nd place in the SPL now gains an illustrious Europa League place) :embarrassed:

Well that's because you don't know any of their players isn't it? :) It's like if you ask a Chelsea-supporter about our squad. He will probably think it's **** cause he can't name anyone.

The squad is in fact pretty average, but they do have some interesting players, Larsson, Pekalski, Mehemti, Hamad etc. (Most of the guys with foreign names)

Edit: Foreign in this case= Names which sounds Turkish/Arabian etc.....

I meant Rangers would do rubbish in the Championship - sorry my post wasn't very clear :(

I think Malmo would make a better job of the English league than Rangers judging by tonight's performance <laugh>

I'm actually quite nervous (Not sure why) :)
I guess it's some patriotism, haha

Edit: Yeah, I'm an absolute wreck listening to City with Swanny and Burnsy, haha.

    Really close 1-1 there

Malmo once made the European Cup final losing only to Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest (1979?).. in the days when only the champions qualified and it was a direct knockout..

I bet Danns is asking himself "What have I done? I turned down all that Champions' league football!"

Rangers have to go out to Sweden and win the game. Not likely considering their shocking away record in Europe.

Let's all laugh at Scotland and it's **** state of football!

Rangers and Celtic are mid table league 1 sides at best.

Dunfermline played Huddersfield last week. Worst side in the SPL vs one of the best in L1 and it was a very even game. Dunfermline were less than a week away from the start of the season, but Huddersfield also seemed (I stopped paying attention after 70 minutes when the game became a farce because of the waterlogged pitch) to use more substitutes to keep the freshness in the team so the two sides being equal seems a decent baseline to use.

Celtic are a midtable Championship side. Rangers probably not far off in terms of players, but with Walter Smith leaving they're in a situation this season similar to what Man U will have to go through when Ferguson retires. Only Rangers don't have the size to attract top managers to replace him because of the league they're in. It's like Man U having to appoint Warren Joyce. As much as we might like him you wouldn't expect him to do too well against the best managers in Europe.

Joyce the legend would do excellent!<devil>:emoticon-0116-evilg

Edit: And btw. You write about the pitch being absolute ****, but at the same time you reckon that it's a good "baseline to use" after a training game :emoticon-0145-shake

Warren Joyce with minimal managerial experiance at the top level would not take over Man U and in his 2nd competitive game be expected to beat a side like Bayern Munich if Bayern were midway through their season. (That's two teams with a similar standing in the European rankings, which applies to the Malmo/Rangers situation)

The new pitch was in really good condition for the first 70 minutes as we've had a month or so of good growing weather which is what I'm basing the comparison on. From about half time it was raining which isn't a problem. From 60 minutes onwards it was absolutely pouring down, and 10 minutes later the pitch was unplayable (the match report even says that it would have been abandoned if it had been a competitive game) but the managers said to keep playing for fitness and told the players to stop slide tackling. I thought that was a valid time to stop comparing the sides footballing ability.
