We surely didn't pay £2m for someone we planned not to use. If it's just a case of him looking sharper than Akpom then fair enough, it's bound to happen at some point with our squad. Thing is, with how the strikers played the other night and also against Wednesday, the likes of Akpom must be in line for another start before long. I'd play him and Powell up front next game. Remind Diame and Hernandez that they have to turn up to keep their place and emphasise to Akpom the importance of making some bloody runs and putting himself about. Tell him if he does that he keeps his place. We won't be missing anything by dropping our 'main' two forwards based on the last two games.
I imagine Akpom will play a part against MK Dons, I agree with you that the two currently playing need reminding that they aren't undroppable. I'd rest Diame in that game and play Akpom up front with Hernandez. Or Dio, who I think has more to show us and it'd be a confidence booster for him to play weaker opposition.
Hernandez should have come off the other night no doubt at all. Not only that but he had a hell of a mush on him all night, he needs to drop the ego and do what he's told whether he likes it or not
