Im probably wasting my time here cause i know theres only a handful of likeminded fight fans on here but i thought id start a thread for the Irish phenomenon Connor Mcgregor.
Im gutted his original opponent Dos Anjos pulled out cause I think he'd have seriously been tested there.

I predict a first or second round win for Mcgregor if he can keep it toe to toe. If it goes to ground he could be in serious trouble.....

Sadly I have not heard of either boxer. The main reason for this is that we rarely see fights on terrestrial tv these days and I won't pay for box office or Sky Sports..

Its not boxing mate. This is the Ufc/MMA(Mixed martial arts). All fighting aspects rolled into one in an Octogan cage with lightweight gloves on.
    Much better than boxing ha.

I think McGregor's boxing background will give him this one again. If it goes to ground think he'll really struggle but I don't think Diaz can get close enough to do any real damage. Also gutted Dos Anjos pulled out, would've been a good fight.

Im gutted about Dos Anjos aswell. I reckon he'd have been the man to beat Connor. Hes an absolute beast!
Diaz went the distance with Dos Anjos though and only lost via split decision. Diaz is a very good boxer and has excellent Jui jitsu. His standup cannot be underestimated!
Connors just a complete bag of tricks though, throwing kicks and punches from all angles. I predict Connor a second round TKO.

I think the most important thing for McGregor is being able to adapt to the new weight he's fighting at. He's done well to put the weight on but it's like a totally different sport as he climbs the weight divisions mainly because of how much more power is behind the punches, especially with an opponent that can box like Diaz.

Exactly mate. Theres a big difference in his opponents punching power now and staminas also gona be another big issue for him now. How much has putting 25 pounds on effected him and his fight style?
Its also gona be a shock to the system for him if it goes to ground having a heavier bloke on top of him.

Seen a few McGregor fights and enjoyed them. Much prefer the strikers to the technical wrestlers, though I was a huge Shamrock fan.

Aye, a long time. The only grappler I couldn't help but like. Hard to see a fight back then. It was banned in most states and rarely televised.

I started watching it in 2004 on Setanta sports. Then it moved to Espn and now BT Sports. Its always been accessible, but due to the time difference in the states its hard to watch.
Now its growing in popularity its easier to watch at a decent time cause they have events all around the world. It was on in Manchester last week.

I do think he can handle the punches but like you said MMA is massively about the stamina of the fighter. McGregor is the better fighter in my opinion but Diaz has been at a similar weight level for a while now and he's going to much more used to being a big bloke and how to fight like a heavy lad. Connor is going to seriously have to adapt his style to this bloke in a big way, like you said if Diaz gets on top of him he's going to have a massive problem because he's not amazingly talented on the ground. Backing off and striking at the right time will be the key for McGregor like it is in most of his fights, he really can't afford to take many isks at this weight because he'll just be punished if Diaz can get on top of him. I'm quite looking forward to it but I think everyone was much more excited for Dos Anjos.

I honestly think Dos Anjos pulling out is a blessing in disguise for him. He can use Diaz as a warm up fight at this weight. Fighting Dos Anjos in his first fight at 170pounds would have been abit too much!

Me da was getting dodgy pirated videos in the mid 90s. Shamrock and Severn were the boys back then. By the time the 90s went I had well discovered booze drugs and women so lost interest in everything sporty for a while including SAFC.

No chance mate. just a week after the last, a Sunday and an early kick off. Skint and too much hassle with transport mate.

Arsenal or chelsea could be workable though. **** me we're running out of home games. <yikes>

Never mind. I fancy trying to organise a big get togeather for Chelsea. I suppose it depends on how successful WBA is with everyone.
I found out tonight i may be able to get a babysitter for Wba, so i might be able to come afterall <cheers>.

Bunch of gobby short arses chatting each other up followed by rolling round in a sweaty entwined mess on the floor. I'll take a boxing match any day over that.
