He has, he's looked hopeless. £2m wasted on another foreign import, when will we learn? Another extra £4m would have secured Gray, I know where I'd have rather the club spent the cash.
More importantly, when will Bruce learn, or get a decent scouting network in place. Of all the 'budget strikers' signed last Summer to play in The Championship, the only apparent success to date is Tomer Hemed at Brighton.
This is really odd in both cases. As you say, he was raving about Hayden and then he doesn't make the bench, and a week ago said Akpom was really chomping at the bit at the moment and then leaves him out too. If he wanted to reward Diomande for looking bright in training, he could have guaranteed him a start against Arsenal when Akpom not available. Akpom has actually looked bright on the pitch recently when given a chance, and would certainly have worked their defence a lot more than Hernandez and Diomande. As someone said last night, could this be the return of the naughty step? Sincerely hope not.
Well Bruce has his new favourite in Powell. We hardly won a game with Hudd playing now for some reason Hayden is in and out of the squad, just like Meyler. Reminds me of our relegation last season when he insisted on playing Ramirez (who has just scored for boro) Some strange decisions lately.
Seemed more lack of interest which might be the result of last nights non appearance.. I think the lad wanted to come here and be 'the man' and hasn't had a sniff really..
In Bruces defence, Meyler has been pretty inconsistent since he came back in. I don't know why he wasn't on the bench, Brum was crying out for him, but the home draws we didn't need him at all. He was a passenger against Wednesday and the style of play didn't suit him at all. Away days scrapping for wins is much more his forte.
Our second forward position as been a problem for most of the season, Diame brilliant one game very poor the next, Diomande the small game time I have seen him seems to lack composure in front of goal often blasting it over the bar, Akpom missed tons of chances although as plenty of pace and for that reason if he had been sub last night I would have brought him on and exposed 36 year old Robinson. Powell we have not seen him up front and I know he is a midfielder but I thought we brought him here to play up front.
Someone like Robinson is the last person Akpom should be up against. He'd wind him up to ****, niggling and shoving him. His bottom lip would be quivering.
Yes but he might get mad and with his all body quivering send a spinner into the top corner (of the net that is)
Totally agree with all you have said, I still believe that this was a last minute panic buy as the transfer window was closing, may explain why his fitness was not properly looked into.
What does Meyler's arsehole smell like, Chazz? Is it hairy or does he shave? The people want to know.
I didn't say he was ****, did I? If that's what you have read, that's your problem. He's good at this level, he's just not hitting the heights he could be.
Hernandez has missed a fair number of scoring chances himself, I wouldn't mind a bit of competition. Neither are wholly reliable, but if Hernandez is on one of his down spells it wouldn't hurt giving Akpom a go.
