If that is the case piskie , rumours from madrid are usually like looking into a crystal ball and seeing the future, then with poch going madrid, spurs would find it twice as hard to keep hold of some players. hmmm
There's a lot of bluster and guff that comes from Marca, but when Real start openly courting people, they usually get their man in the end. It's a bit of a double edged sword for Spurs fans, if Pooch has a good season with Spurs and gets them into the CL, then he will definitely be on the radar for Real. If he actually manages to win the league, then then will come for him with the full force and Spurs could crumble under that sort of pressure. If he did go I'd expect him to want to take some of Spurs' better players with him.
Who do you think Poch would get the green light to poach; given Madrid's preference for 'galacticos' ... do you think the Spuds actually have anyone that might fit the ususal criteria?
i dont think spurs have any "galacticos" level players at the moment to be perfectly honest, kane would be their biggest name so to speak and i dont think madrid even with poch there would want him. a real shocker would be wenger takes the madrid job and poch hops over to the goons
What's making me giggle about the last few posts is the attempts by the fans of lesser clubs to wum us Yids! Sure, if we were struggling to hold 5th or 6th, I could understand it, but not when we are gunning for the title!
You haven't grasped this concept of wumming mate. What people are saying is that it's a double edged sword for Spurs fans if Pooch does well. Ordinarily nobody wants to touch any Spurs manager with a barge pole as they are so ****, but Pooch has alerted the radar of the mighty Real Madrid and if they want him, they will get him. It's like stealing sweets from a child when it comes to Real and Spurs, they even wummed you when they helped themselves to Bale and then sold us Ozil
Oh, I have grasped the concept on wumming, all right. I invented the rule book, Pixie, as you know only too well. You can wum as much as you like on our future, but it's clearly a futile exercise when our future looks bright. You might be scared ****less about Wenger leaving your club, but we're not afraid of Poch leaving ours. As you say, if he does go, it will be to Real or Barca, and that will be off the back of the work he's done for us, getting us back into the CL, on the cusp of us building our new stadium. So what if he leaves? We'll get someone else in, and they'll pick up from where Poch left off. That's what modern football is all about. It's Arsenal, desperately trying to cling on to that old fossil, Wenger, too afraid to let ago, who are the bigger fools. Even you have admitted that it's time for the dinosaur to go, now.
That depends on which players they lose. They've not been doing too well, of late. I have little doubt that the usual vultures will be circling around a clutch or our players, over the Summer, and we'll have to ride the usual round of rumours and rampant tappings-up from the gutter press. All of the Spurs fans I know are used to it, and don't bat an eyelid. Of course, if, as is fully expected, we make the CL next season, none of our top players will be leaving, and we'll be adding to the core of the squad with real quality. How many of the Arsenal team would make Real's squad, bearing in mind that they sold you one of their rejects?
I think that's the problem for Spurs though, with the bigger expectation will come a desire for your better players to want to test themselves at the top level. You say you won't bat an eyelid about the rumours, but you were certain before that Modric and Bale were 'going nowhere' and they both ended up at Real. When it comes to Pooch, he's already ditched one project to take a step up, so he's obviously climbing the ladder. Do you think Spurs could resist Real's overtures if Pooch wanted to continue on his career progression and join Real ?
