This is from the guy that wants to set up a new European Superleague where popularity is more important then achievement. http://www.theguardian.com/football...-leicester-relevent-sports-charlie-stillitano I say fine - let them bugger off to play soccer and we can play football.
I just find it incredible that people can think like that. So incredibly old fashioned. Absolute buffoon.
.. don't forget the US has a "World Series" sporting event that includes .... errrrr ............ the US .... (plus a few Canadians)
... no that will be in 2 seasons time after we have won the Champions League and then the Super Cup against the best from South America
to be fair the 'world series' is named after the original sponsors and does not confer the title 'world champions'
It's about time the Americans realised they know absoliutely **** all about football, **** them and their 'brands', Leicester City is exactly what the champions League needs, a nobody small club winning the biggest League in the world and giving every fan from every team something to dream. I bet the prick that wrote it is a Trump voter.
You shouldn't take the World Serious . Although baseball is the most talked about sport in the bible ..... When you first open the book it says " In the Big Inning " . What Bigfox says in his two lines pretty well says it for me , except to say all owners of the 5 clubs represented at the hotel meeting are foreign owned ....says it all . The super league , if it happens , will be built on the same foundation the Premier League was built on ....... Greed , how dare a small club get in the way of greed.
American sport doesn't tend to have things like relegation and promotion, so I don't think that they get it. They believe that the "top brands" are of more interest to supporters, whereas the truth is that seeing the same thing over and over gets boring. ‘What would Manchester United argue: did we create soccer or did Leicester?’ Er, neither? I assume that he'd want Villa in it every year, by that standard. Don't see him calling for that. What he actually means is "How can I make more money in the short term, as I don't give a crap about the sport?" People like this are poisonous. They end up destroying things that people value in order to make a quick buck. This is the exact sort of thing that football needs to avoid.
I skim read the article and assumed I misread that sentence. Had to backtrack and re read it. Absolute weirdo. I bet he changes the team who he supports to the side winning every season. Clearly doesn't understand the culture of the sport and we're better off without those poisonous people. Regardless of how much they think they can do with their money.
Only in Yank Land. A Nation that thinks it beat the Whole of the British Empire when infact it was alot of British settlers v a small army spread out over a large area. And any way, there we're no Irish, ltalians, Russian, Yogoslavs, Afrikans & West indes in Southern North America then so they all did FA & have no reason to celebrate on the 4th of July. Native indians never took part you so called 'Americans'.
This bloke really is only out to line his own pockets. Arsenal and Chelsea claim they're not interested in the proposal, but the main problem lies with the mainland Europe teams. They recognise the mega deal coming in next season in the Premier league and all the money we'll have at our disposal. By agreeing to this new Champions league format they'll be catching up with us somewhat. The chap really is all that's wrong with the world, greed is good? Ha!
Bloody Yanks what do they know about a EUROPEAN Competition and who cares what they think? The Champions League doesn't need any club, it survived when Man U didn't make it. Clubs need the Champions League more then the CL needs clubs
the big boys wont like this thought but as West ham continue to knock on the door of the top four could we finally have 3 teams in the champions league that fans don't assume have a natural right to be there and whose teams and players can play without the pressure of needing to reach the knockout stages of the competition and see reaching those knockout stages as a successful season i.e Aresnal. i believe that if they can get into the last four and we stay in the top four that we will for the first time have three teams that will be playing in the competition for fun not just fir the cash, so come on you hammers you need to grab the champions league spot and obviously with the exception of the game at the KP i wish you well.
Im still most worried about Spurs, but the way WHU came back at Everton ... i wouldn't be surprised if Man City and Arsenal didn't take 3rd now if given the chance. Certainly going to be interesting, would have been great if Southampton had kept their form up too, imagine the top 4 ... 1. Leicester 2. Spurs 3. WHU 4. Southampton Would be the best season for football in a long long time ...
