Just caught the end of Question Time after Albert asked me to check he wasn't hallucinating seeing Jermaine Jenas on there. Not sure how he did earlier on, but from the few contributions I saw he was actually talking more sense than anybody else. Quite surreal seeing him giving insightful opinion on the political impact of Donald Trump on the world. Not surprised Albert needed clarification that he hadn't been eating the cheese from behind the fridge again. Anyway, it got me thinking. We're all sick to the back teeth of regular politicians, so how about a government of an independent Northumbria, made up of current/former Newcastle players? Who would you nominate for different government roles? After his performance tonight I'll put forward Jermaine Jenas for Prime Minister, but also throw in Joey Barton as Foreign Secretary for his diplomatic skills. Any others?
I'd like to nominate Lee Charnley as the Northumbrian ambassador to Papua New Guinea, on nothing less than an 8 year contract.
Oh dear I see JJ is in favour of higher tax despite the facts that reducing the top level from 50% to 45% resulted in an additional £8 billion being collected, as the French found out when you squeeze the top end of the tax tree they up sticks and leave, this then means that instead of getting more tax revenue you get less because contrary to left wing dogma the top 10% of tax payers actually contribute exponentially more tax than the rest, as ever though this is treated as an emotive argument as if the top tax payers somehow are screwing the country and people when in fact they contribute far more. One example in the last election was the Non Doms, Labour pursued a line that they were tax evaders when in reality the 115000 ND's contributed over £8 billion to the treasury, the bottom 25% of tax payers in contrast contributed less than £3 billion in tax, so 115000 people contribute over 2 and a half times as much tax as the 7 million bottom rate payers, can the UK really afford to chuck away £8 billion for the sake of political ideology, mind you all politicians do crazy things for the sake of political ideology that nobody running a business would do. I prefer facts to ideology and half truths wrapped up in a lack of answers.
So is that you setting yourself up in opposition to the JJ party? You'll need a toon shadow cabinet too if you want to do that!
Our physios for health care secretary... Tim Krul only went to them with a dead leg. 25 months of round the clock care and it seems to have spread to his whole body.
From the financial times: The figures published by HMRC showed that in 2013-14, the year following the cut in the top rate from 50p to 45p, additional rate taxpayers paid £46bn of income tax, £8bn more than in 2012-13. The increase is likely to be largely a result of wealthy taxpayers delaying taking bonuses and dividends until the rate cut took effect. In 2012, the Office for Budget Responsibility forecast that £6.25bn of income would be shifted from 2012-13 to 2013-14 http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d7cbfec0-dfcb-11e5-b67f-a61732c1d025.html From HRMC: The Exchequer effect of the 50 per cent additional rate of income tax sec A26 (march 2012) A.26. The 5 per cent reduction in the additional rate with effect from 2013-14 is also likely to lead to some anticipatory behaviour, this time in the form of deferral of income from 2012-13. The observed level of forestalling ahead of the introduction of the additional rate has been used to inform an estimate of this deferral of income. Simply assuming that a 5 per cent reduction would lead to half the annual forestalling from the introduction of the 50 per cent rate44 would suggest around £5 billion of income would be moved from 2012-13 into 2013-14. Some allowance has, however, been made to reflect that it may be easier for taxpayers to delay income than it was for them to bring it forward. The final figure used is therefore £6.25 billion. Clearly there is some uncertainty in this regard. http://webarchive.nationalarchives.....gov.uk/budget2012/excheq-income-tax-2042.pdf Other sourced sources of ...facts http://politicalscrapbook.net/2016/...rate-raised-8-billion-is-shown-to-be-rubbish/ http://waitingfortax.com/2016/03/01/did-cutting-the-top-rate-really-raise-8bn/
Craig Bellamy has to be a shoo in for the diplomatic role of Foreign Secretary Marcellino For head of the NHS ...lots of experience
There are many misnomers out there regarding financial policy, and some of the biggest are found in tax law. The problem is that historically, and even very recently, large corporations have evaded tax regulation through loophole manipulation. Taints views of the whole, rather than reflecting the spectrum. What I'm trying to say, is don't let the scumbag van hire colonel sanders lookalikes who "move" to the south of France to give blowjobs to tourists give everyone a bad name
Mitrovic for Secutary of State for Defence! I would follow Mitro into any war! Imagine his rallying cry, he would probably smear the blood of 1000 opposition children over his face, bite a pigs head off and roar like a sabre tooth tiger whilst sat on a stallion holding a machette! Definatley just got a semi
