Tries hard to get excited. Can't.

If this film is positing that the events of the original films happened within its storyline, then how come they have to convince everyone in the city again that ghosts do actually exist in the new film (or so I'm reading) ?? Kristen Wiiiiiig's character has written a book on ghosts and is made a laughing stock as an academic because of it ... I'm pretty sure New Yorkers would remember some heinous **** like that going down

Never got into ghost busters... Only saw the original properly a few months back, didn't dind it that great, maybe I'm used to proper special effects now that it seemed disappointing despite it probably being good at the time of making.

I thought it looked super cringe

New Ghostbusters looks really cliched and predictable, not only is it pretty much the original film moved to contemporary times (much like the latest updated Star Wars offering) ... they've pretty much lifted all the old male characters, turned them into female equivalents and injected them with like a modern, internet-savvy comedy/script, and then there's the better special effects and technology, the music that taps into the classic theme in that expected way, and even Slimer is back

Wiig is Peter Venkman
Kate Mckinnon is Egon Spengler
Melissa McCarthy is Ray Stantz
Leslie Jones is Winston Zeddemore

Kristen Wiig and the female Egon are pretty fit though

This sounds like the biggest pile of poo since.... well... dc legends of tomorrow mentioed earlier. piss poor show that. z list heros.

girl power ghostbusters betrays the original (now passed on) Harold Ramis

I don't mind melissa who ate all the pies having a role and a mixing up of roles and such but jesus.. this sounds like someone has completely forgotten what the audience for this movie is.. this is not going to appeal to the male audience that is what its got to be aimed at.

Agreed there. A full women ghostbusters film. Sounds stupid. But i would probably not have watched it even if it was a full male cast so who am i to have an opinion

I would have.

I'd have watched it with the fat girl in as ray just because it might even have comedy value but to chick flick up what is essentially a guy movie is not going to work.

why?

men won't go to it cos they'll be annoyed by it. men would rather take their missuses to a movie that would earn brownie points that take them to this cos guess what women will think it stupid.

It sounds to me like an awful night out.
