No cutting edge and you want 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2 as it should properly be called, 5-4-1 if Diame is still to 'partner' Hernandez) Heap more pressure and responsibility on the front one/two and take away half their support that will really help bring some cutting edge!
Agreed I thought we played well particularly when you take onto account the awful conditions. It was just one.of those nights when you nothing was going for us. Perversely i quite.enjoyed the game and was glad I made the effort to go. Despite the weather I had a great journey home lt is one of the better grounds to get away from.
Kin ell!! It's a fookin nightmare unless you park at least a mile or so away outside someone's house.
I was there for part one, played on the Sat.26th March, but missed the sequel as business commitments confined me to London. A lucky few on here saw both matches.
3-5-2. Play two strikers and stop hoping for Diane to score a wonder goal - we made that same mistake with Huddlestone. The front one striker is isolated and feeding off scraps, he needs a proper striking partnership of a front two, it is the only way we will find the cutting edge we so desperately need. What support will you take away? Three CBs for defensive duties - more cover for when one of them needs to forage forward. (There were times last night when I would rather have had a McGuire/Bruce option in front of their goal, at least they would thump the ball.) Use two wing-backs as they should be used, as attacking midfielders; get the attacking juices flowing. A three man midfield from our self-proclaimed depth of choice. Hudds did okay last night, but he looked like an improving player because others are going backwards. Hernandez, Diomande, Akpom, were all brought in as Bruce's striker options - try Snodgrass, McGuire or Dave as striker alternatives - you never know, they might be as poor as Clayton Donaldson was last night. The figures flattered us last night. We were credited with lots of shots, which seems to be translated as lots of domination. We hassled in and around their area, our hassling had no end product, we were busy fools. It needs to change. Aye, we were unlucky last night, too. Our play and tactics should blow away the percentages of luck. Someone explain to me the thought process behind the substitutes? Three points quite rightly denied us. We need to stop the rot now.
No problem with depth of the squad. Bruce needs to use some of the other players when we have games in quick succession. When did we last see Maloney, Hayden, Maguire, Akpom... We've got decent cover and step ins for most positions but we're rolling the same side out twice a week.
The opposing teams manager will get a copy of opponents team sheet at least one hour before kick-off, which would allow him to make last minute changes to his teams tactics for the game.
