Two probable reasons why Akpom was not even on the bench. Either he's injured or he's not done it in training.
Peter Swan reckoned nothing to be down about 'because it wasn't the strikers who were missing the chances - if the chances had fallen to the strikers they would probably have scored' Unquote. I think that's 3 thing to worry about: I) The strikers weren't strong enough to create chances for themselves. Knocked off the ball virtually every time. ii) We weren't good enough elsewhere to create good chances for the strikers iii) Those who did have chances couldn't take them - again. Unless Akpom was injured , decision not to have him available is a shocker. He's barely had look in since he scored a hat trick...
Exactly. We have had three opportunities to put pressure on in the last fortnight and have failed spectacularly. These are the matches that matter. With the squad we have we should be walking it. However, its worrying if this is what is happening in the Championship with our 'Premier League Squad'
Most liikely explanation. Though only last week he said that Akpom was chomping at the bit to play. Normally think SB man management v good but I would need a lot of convincing that naughty step was a good idea for the young man tonight.
'People letting off steam'? It's people rubbishing almost every player in the team and the manager's choices. Unfortunately that still is part of our history. Seems to be in the DNA of some people. A narrow 1-0 defeat against a team striving to make the playoffs? Boo! They're all ****ers! Think if you can't take the odd nil nil or narrow defeat, then football is not the game for you. We're getting as bad as the Borough fans for bipolarism.

I am still concerned at our severe lack of strikers. Diomande simply looks dreadful, unless I have missed something? Powell is being played in midfield, I thought we had signed him as a striker? Where is Akpom? Hernandez and Diame both looked poor tonight and when you look at the bench there's no one you think looks like scoring goals to change things from a subs perspective.
I think the main problem up front is that our strikers just aint prepared to go that little bit extra
Tom did nothing wrong. He made some excellent passes to start off attacks, don't think he gave the ball away once under pressure or not, and made some ****ing brilliant tackles. That one where he chased back and smashed Donaldson when he was about to pull the trigger 1 on 1 was immense, if Livermore or Meyler had made that tackle we'd need buckets to cope with the amounts of cum being splashed everywhere with the fuss everyone would have made about it. Powell had more space to drive at the enemy because by the time he came on they'd dropped off all hands on deck to keep their lead, for the first half at least they were pressing us high and trying to take the game to us. Even then he hardly made any impact on the game.
Very frustrating game - lost to a deflected goal, hit the woodwork twice, denied a clear penalty and Clucas should have had a hat-trick. Frustration compounded by the likes of Diame and Dio going for the glory goal and shooting hopelessly over the bar from outside the box when it was easier to play a team mate in. Also in Boro and Burnley win at the weekend (probably will) and again on Tuesday, then that really piles the pressure on us
He's not injured, Bruce said his omission was tactical. Never did understand Bruce's tactics. I'm not sure Bruce does either.
Ok but youre sounding a bit bipolar at times. You seem to have wild outbursts. Remember we all want to win this league.
One of the problems is that very little goes through the middle, Abel must take the ball 99% of the time with his back to goal instead of running on to it.
What he means is you're a ****ing ****er in revels in every defeat we have but dont post when we win. I saw you lurking on the Boro thread the other night but you couldnt bring yourself to post about Boro losing. In summary you're a ****.
