Was Mourinho holding Chelsea together during the first half of this season? Did they fall apart when he left?
I know recent failure better than them im just saying the grass in not always greener, a new manager could easily see them come out of the top four as much as improve them to above top 4. its stick with wenger and virtually guarantee cl football or go with someone else and maybe achieve more, its not like they aint won trophies during the time they have gone without a title.
Petulant spoilt fans who dont know a good thing do my nut in I just think youre all mad wanting him gone tbh.
And we think you're mad thinking he's good enough to stay. Arrogant fans who think their opinion is the correct one and call others petulant does my nut in.
Fair enough, we all have our opinions. who would you have him replaced with? whos available and who could improve upon wengers dynasty? its a short list imo
We've had this conversation a million times on this board, search for the threads. Any number of managers could use our current squad and tread water in 4th so why should Wenger get paid £8m a year to do it? Heck, even Bould could get our current squad to finish in the top 4. Klopp should have been approached. Ancelotti should have been aproached. Guardiola should have been approached. Conte should be approached. Asking 'who is available' is a pointless question as most of the time there is no 'I'm available' jobseekers list. You inquire and you get. There are not that many managers who would turn Arsenal down: - large transfer and wage budget - big stadium - London based - a board with exceptionally low expectations who are happy for very little to be achieved - fans that put up with years and year of mediocrity if you deliver it You've got people like Martinez, Hiddink, Low, De Boer, Bergkamp, Garcia... all, IMO could at least match what Wenger does with our current squad and funds and, most importantly, maybe show some actual ambition to do something other than absolutely nothing.
I think HIAG would need a permanent cock transplant if Arsenal appointed Brendan Rodgers as his replacement.
I'm so tired of repeating the same lines I always do on here, but it appears the Scousers don't venture much on our board. So let me explain why I and others want Wenger out. For years, we have been told that there has been a lack of quality players available, there's not many good players to go round all the clubs and that we cannot compete financially with the other clubs. The latter part may have rang true until the last three or four years, but Leicester and even Spurs have shown that if you invest shrewdly, scout and vet your players properly, and manage these players well enough, they will come through. Even in the years that we still couldn't compete financially, we still managed to comfortably spend around £15m-£20m on players. Kante, Mahrez, Alli, Dier and others are all players that would get into the squad of every club in the league. They were all bought for very small fees. When you consider we've had the likes of Chamakh, Bendtner, Denilson, Hoyte, Miquel, Squillaci, Silvestre, Sanogo, Gervinho etc at our club, perhaps Wenger's and the club's judgement on the potential of these players aren't as good as they once were. However, even when we do have money, he is still reluctant to spend. What was his reason for not flogging off Flamini? Why did he only get Cech in the Summer? Why were we the only club in Europe's top 5 leagues to not sign an outfield player in the Summer? His erroneous decisions have yet again cost us at the business end of the season. And who has to pay for it? The fans. On top of that, his crop of 'British Core' players have been a complete and utter failure. And this is what happens when you reward players with high wages and long term contracts for a few decent games and showing a bit of potential. Chamberlain has not progressed. Ramsey has not progressed. Jenkinson was loaned out and looks like being sold. Wilshere is always injured and will never fulfil his potential at Arsenal. Walcott has not developed at all in the 10 years he's been at Arsenal. These are players that Wenger put a lot of investment into and we've been waiting for too long for them to blossom into the players they were meant to. These players either aren't as good as Wengr thought they were or he is mismanaging them. I personally think it is a case of both. Which brings me onto the next point - his persistence and rash convictions in the wrong players for too long. How long did he keep Almunia and Fabinaksi at Arsenal when neither were steady/reliable goalkeepers? How long has Ramsey been in the team when he's only shown consistent form in one season? Why are Flamini and Arteta still played? Why was Diaby kept on for so long when he was wasting a squad place and was obvious that he was never going to get back to his best? How has Giroud been allowed to have his position unchallenged for so long? Why has Mertesacker not been upgraded on? This lack of ruthlessness has always been his downfall over the years. Then there's possible issues with training methods, his questionable tactics and in-game management, his reactiveness to situations and his poor record in Europe, but you get the idea. I've written enough. We have changed the squad so much. We have more money than we've ever had in our history. We regularly participate in Europe's most elite competitions and we're in the top 10 in the world for finances. Why is it that we still suffer from the same problems now and complain about the same problems from 7/8/9/10 years ago when the only thing that remained constant in the man in charge? This should send alarm bells ringing. He is past it and has to leave. He is single-handedly dismantling his reputation whilst stifling the potential of what this club can achieve. Whether it's down to psychological factors or a genuine lack of quality, the salient point is that he has utterly failed to build a title-winning squad in the last 12 years and that is unacceptable with this amount of time he's had.
Complete waste of time. They just want you to say you want Klopp as your manager as most of them don't think he's magic anymore. Desperate times in Mouserland what with a Conservative government and Everton having money.
admittedly I only saw the highlights on motd, but you hit the woodwork a few times and seemed unlucky with the 2nd goal conceded, just seems a bit knee jerk from you guys and compared to a lot of other teams fans on here thats strange because i count you lot as a generally rational bunch. obviously im not bothered eitherway but its sad to see fans turning on a legend of the club whatever that club may be
I'm a bit of a lone voice on here, but I'm not wavered by the majority. I don't think we should sack Wenger. I'm not opposed to replacing him should we be able to find somebody who can do a better job, but that process should be done with Wenger and the board, not based on the back of a few defeats. If we do replace Wenger then I think Arsenal fans should be prepared for a few seasons that could see us drop out of the champions league and could see players leave, with a period of rebuilding. I don't think so many of those who want him out fully appreciate how that would feel. There's a bit of a 'it can't get any worse' mentality, but the reality is, it could get worse than any of them could imagine. Wenger is going to leave one day, so I'm all for the club and Wenger planning for that, I just don't agree that he should be ousted in the back of a few bad games.
