Its looking more and more likely that we will be relegated which is hugely disappointing given the good work done over the festive period. However, I would rather approach the last few games in Alex Neil fashion and give a good account of ourselves. If the quality isn't there I think we again need to learn lessons but I'd rather go down 'having a go' and if we manage to get enough points to stay up then fantastic. If not........... The we MUST keep AN. With him in control and adopting a similar approach to the last time we were relegated I have no doubt that we will be able to get out of the championship again next season. I know that next season will bring us one of 2 things: 1) Championship football - more games, more goals and certain more ups than we have in the Premier League. 2) Premier league football and dining at the top table and everything that brings - more media coverage, more money for the club and the chance for AN to improve his Premier League squad. Whatever happens we need to get and stick behind AN. There certainly isn't anyone I can think of that I would rather be managing our club and the lessons he will have learnt this season will only make him and even better manager.
After recent performances and in my book more fight being shown there is glimmer of light, only a glimmer mind, because we've been here before only to watch a Villa performance unfold when we need all our fight and what quality we have to be displayed. It's about time we went to a relegation rival and really put in a performance to be proud of, at least then win or lose we might spare the boo's. Bah!
Excellent OP and agree with all that you say, especially the last paragraph!!! . A couple of things I would like to add - 1. We MUST improve the defence. OK, it has looked better in our last 2 games and has in fact only conceded 1 goal in each (I'm discounting the 'offside goal'!!), but I've felt for a couple of seasons that RM just isn't fast enough to deal with speedy wingers, so should be replaced. I'd also like to see a fairly settled back 3 or 4 depending on which formation AN decides he wants to play. 2. IMO, we should have a nucleus of at least 8 players who make the starting 11 each week, as opposed to changing 4 or more depending on the opposition or the formation he wants to play.
