Nah not having that, the likes of heighway, Dave thomas, Copple and Hill etc were flying wingers and could run all day long.<whistle>

And it's still permitted to pass the ball back to the keeper, he just ain't allowed to pick it up these days.:emoticon-0105-wink:

honestly and no disrespect but I would heartily laugh even if utd end up in 4h if Guardiola turns up and there's no CL for him.

    that would be absolutely hil-ar-ious.

Come on mate, that was certainly the best defensive display we've put on in a long time. Part of that was due to Can having his best game so far and part was due to the defenders playing as a unit. Tactically spot on from the gaffer (using full backs as defenders....how novel) coupled with excellent performances all across the back line. Toure played really well last night, he is the only one in the entire squad who can organise (a sad indictment of the rest). Both full backs had a shaky first ten but were almost faultless after that, Flanno is a delight at times and I pity the fact you can't just enjoy him for what he is. Hopefully Klopp sees things differently than yourself...personally I think he'll play Flanno every opportunity he can :)

As for the result, great but it tells us little really. It doesn't change anything, we know any team who gives forwards that much space will get punished. Same thing happened at their place. We played well enough to make City look worse than they are...but I suspect they played poorly enough to make us look better than we are <laugh>

Happy with the performance, now let's see if we can do it consistently. One off performances mean little
Mild?? What a tart  must have been in the days before bitter then.....

Big Jan used to eat a walrus before every game <ok>

Well, given Flanno's masterclass last night, we better get him to sign a new contract because he'll be in demand come the summer.

Just a shame he didn't sign the contract before he got injured.

I know - they even offered him a deal and he said no. It's not because he's greedy - I'm sure he wanted more money so he can give back to the community.

He's not a mercenary like that Raheem fella.

Here are some stats from the end of last season.

For a limited player, Flanno has some excellent stats for his 13/14 season. Will be surprised if we don't extend his contract soon.

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan described his crunching challenge on former team-mate Raheem Sterling as "just business." Only 30 seconds into Wednesday's 3-0 victory for Liverpool over Manchester City, Flanagan knocked the £49m signing off his feet with a strong but fair tackle.

"It was something I had to do to get the crowd up," the 23-year-old said."The crowd have been fantastic, always right behind me even in the dark days. Me and Raheem were good mates at Liverpool but now he's gone to City it is just business on the pitch."

    not even funny.....

I'm sure he just wanted to prove himself...

plus he turned it down BEFORE the injury recurred and signed a 20k per week 1 year extension.

If you cant see the difference between sterlings antics and that of any normal pro then you are being silly.

Being one of Adam Lallana's biggest critics, his performance last night naturally annoyed me - Why can't he play that well every week???

Also, got to love Klopp - Can't wait until he does the below when Utd lose
