Arsenal are planning moves for Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, 19, and winger Roland Aarons, 20, who are both out of contract in the summer.

    http://www.footballgossip.org.uk/index.php/2016/02/26/arsenal-news-aarons-woodman-higuain/

Personally I was hoping we'd get these two signed up. Losing both in the summer would be a big blow to bringing through young players. Many may well feel Aarons is not big loss due to his injury issues, but at 20 I would be happy to see if he can put them behind him. I would get him in the team ASAP and give him a run (not at left back Steve).

I'd be gutted if Aarons was to go, already proved he can be a squad option at his young age and will only get better. Could be a good EPL player in the future

Woodman - Seems like he has loads of potential etc but don't think he was ever going to renew his contract with us since his dad left so meh

    Typical idiot football fan response.

    :steam:

I suppose you would go and do something stupid like playing him at, say, left wing or something like that. Thank God you're not in charge of our team where on earth would we be then?

I'd be very disappointed to see us repeat the Fraser Forster mistake.

When has he proved his worth? He may be in the future worth a bit but at the moment he needs to go out on loan.

I think realistically though, anyone with eyes can see a player with masses of potential. Physically, technically, mentally etc he seems to tick every single box. To me he looks an unbelievable talent for his age and I can fully understand why Arsenal, Man C and Liverpool are credited with an interest. I see little value in loaning him really when we are struggling so badly. He has value to us now. Either as back up to Townsend or playing the other side (although McClaren will never drop his favourite). A better manager would come in and work wonders with this lad. If you had a Pochettino type manager, he'd be one of the top talents in the country. Sadly we don't have that luxury and he is suffering. Personally I'd leave if I was him, but not for Man C or Arsenal. He needs a Spurs, Everton or Liverpool. Of course you could argue Spurs have now jumped into genuine regular top 4 types.

Come on you think Haidara has potential! This lad has more ability in his little toe than Haidara.

Yet on the pitch he has done nothing of note! I agree that he looks like he has potential but my response was that he hasn't shown anything yet when playing!
Also, he is 20 years old and compare him to Nathan Redmond (just over a year older) or that Gray (junst over a year younger) fellow at Leicester (signed from Brummies) he is nowhere near them hence why I said he should have been having a season on loan to a team (preferably a championship team)

I disagree. When we have got him on the pitch, he has shown plenty. His problem is that we can't get him on the pitch because of injury and because the current manager seems reluctant to use him (as it would affect his favourites). I would have him above both of those mentioned all day long on ability on what I have seen. And I rate both Gray and Redmond, having advocated chasing both in the past. However I would accept due to injury the have achieved a bit more at this stage in terms of game time.

Disagree completely - he has only shown a glimpse of quality in one match. The rest of the time he has looked lost and too lightweight (or not making good use of his nimbleness and quickness effectively). I don't even recall anyone jizzing about him, Tash style, when he was in the reserves so not sure what has changed for him to be ****ed over so much. He's had cameos and done nothing at all. Maybe he can learn from Townsend, maybe he won't. Is he a big head and demanding a shed load of wonga for a new contract? Who knows.

As for Woodman, unless he has turned us down already then there is no reason to have him signed up and loaned out.

All opinions. Every time I see him whether pre season or in games, the lad has quality. Not so much at left back but he tried his best. I think what he will be concerned with here is development, the management team seem a bit clueless.

If he goes I think we will live to regret it massively. I think he will be top end and playing for England in the future.

He has huge potential and we should do all we can to get him to sign a new contract and stay.
Then you have to ask yourself, why would he do that?
I will be amazed if we manage to hold onto him, we have nothing to offer such a developing talent.
Except money and their is plenty of that flying about.

Apologies, but, I believe you may be mistaken....
We have one of the best treatment rooms around to offer him.
This alone should be comforting for him as he recovers from his next injury.
Admittedly, it tends to full of like minded souls, but, I'm sure given his time off to date, he's been allocated his own personal space, which he may not get elsewhere.

The injury thing is a concern here too. Look at Spurs injury record before Pochettino arrived. Whatever he is doing in terms of training and recovery, while obviously not purchasing injury prone nightmares, is proving extremely successful. Why do we have one baffoon after another. I am of the opinion this club is still miles behind the rest in terms of our medical department, strength/conditioning and training. I'm sure we were promised this regime was different.

I don't think Aarons has really got up to speed with playing first team Premier League footy yet and at times looks out of his depth, but it's hardly surprising given he's been played at LB or not at all due to injury. Massive potential but I would still hesitate to put him in the first team right now. If his contract is up and one of the big clubs is interested he'll be off like a shot.
