We played Sheffield United in the Cup on a Thursday five or six years ago. And Chelsea twice in cup replays, 1966 and 1981.

And Trenčin and Lokeren, of course.

Even The Tigers would be perfectly acceptable, as long as it's not ridiculously overused like the club do.

Apart from special days I'm sure that most of the midweek games before Sky must have been Tuesday and Wednesday. And most games in general were definitely on a Saturday at 3pm.

The angst at the OSC using "Hull" to talk about us is amusing.

Referring to the KC as the Circle is way more ****ing annoying. Obviously AN won't be critisised by the hand wringers whining about calling us Hull. The thing that makes us 100% Unique in football you moan about, the thing that makes anyone else think you're talking about Man City you covet like an old lady with a cat. You're ****ing weird.

Really not sure why some of you are so intimidated by the lower sports teams in Hull.

Anyhoo, match day. I love Brum. Was always one of my fave grounds to visit in the olden days. Have a night off from packing so right looking forward to this one. 1.5 hour drive, so not too bad too. McDs on the way home on the A14, sorted.

    I'd stick Powell in somewhere.

Our defence is unbreachable, they'll come on to us which will suit us, regulation 0-4 tonight. Abel and Powell scoring and a cracking header for Davies. Nailed on.

Actually it makes a nice change to play on a Thursday night. It then frees up the weekend for other games.

As for tonight, Birmingham will come at us so we just have to ride out the storm and then go after them as they tire.

As for the team, I would bring in Hayden(fresh legs) for Meyler. Keep Meyler for Tuesdays game with Arsenal.
    Same subs again.

2-0 at least for the Tigers from Hull City tonight.

No objection to the national media referring to us as Hull when reporting on football as we are a one team city. They refer to Leeds, Leicester, .Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton etc without putting United, City, .Rovers and so on after their name. However, locally Hull is always taken as one rugby team, Rovers the other one and City or The Tigers (our nickname notbthe club name as some try to pretend).

Was working in .Birmingham in 1969 and went to a night match at the end of the season that they needed to win to stay in the promotion hunt . The rendition of Keep Right On To The End Of The Road was the most spine tingling singing I have ever heard at a football match, not matched by crowds two and three times as large.

For those not happy at having to pay £20 for tonight's game. Then spare a thought for Bolton fans who want to attend the Leeds v Bolton game on Saturday.

    Adult match ticket £42 <yikes>

As one Bolton fan said ""what do we get for that price, a packed lunch and a hotel room for the night ?"" <laugh>

Knowing that calling the club Hull pisses off some of the people you're trying to appeal to, it's probably a good idea not to use it.

The site of our ground is The Circle, the sponsor is KC Com, even the club recognise this, the corporate restaurant at the KC is called the Circle Restaurant and until very recently, the club had The Circle as part of our address.

I like "The Circle" and on some occasions refer to it as that. I would sooner it be called The Circle than the KC Stadium.....I mean, who the **** are they advertising to?

Our name consists of two words: Hull and City. City is used by dozens of other clubs, whereas Hull is unique to "Hull City".
Of course people are going to refer to us as Hull, why shouldn't they? And who cares?

As for rugby, last time I checked that was a different sport so there shouldn't be too much room for confusion.
There are more important things to worry about, like when is Hayden going to get back in the team?

Knowing you're electing a chairman with rabid anti owner views, then replacing him with a chairman with even more rabid anti owners views, and knowing that will put people off that you claim to be trying to appeal to is even worse, but let me guess...

    ffs...

    ?

I never said everyone is annoyed at calling the KC, The Circle, it annoys me sure, and it annoys some others. Same way as calling our football club Hull annoys some but not others. Hull is as much a part of our name, more so, than referring to the ground as The Circle. The exact same arguments you apply to defending that can be applied to calling us Hull. You seem pissed off by that though. Is it an ER thing?

Obviously you're going to defend AN, you're mates with them. Obviously you can't see the similarities in the above either.

Hmm this calls for another one.

    ffs...

    I know.

I'm wondering if I should stop my customary "You Ulllllllllllllllllllll" at games. On the off chance some AN or HCST types take offense and think I'm cheering for FC.

Calling us Hull doesn't piss me off particularly, I was just pointing out that many are pissed off with it, so it's probably not a good idea to do it.

Calling the KC The Circle doesn't bother me at all.

Calling us Hull Tigers or Hull City Tigers are the only ones that really piss me off.

    I'm not electing anyone.

Everyone knows that Hull is the name of a river not a football team.

Part of the 'Hull' thing is we share the stadium with the rugby team and that's why they have that 'hull' painted on the seats.
