I've had Dominos a couple of times lately, it's ok price wise as long as you're getting it in for loads of people and use the 50OFFWEB code. I like Dominos but don't have a nearby Pizza Express.
I stayed in a Travelodge in Newport once. I insisted on having a room with a view of the car park and specifically a view of my car.
I didn't think Newport would have one, that place is a proper ****e hole to be fair. The town centre us uber grim.
I organised a corporate golf thingy at Celtic Manor but chose to stay at the Travelodge to save a few quid. I was surprised at what a ****ing ****hole Newport is.
I went to the Ryder Cup. Was in and out in a day though. Celtic Manor is a really good facility all round, the company I work for built the Ryder cup club house and bridge over the river so they must be good! How the hell they fill that hotel given its proximity to Newport is beyond me though.
Some of it is nice inside, some of it is **** there are function rooms that are so poor considering its status.
I only really saw the lobby, the bar, my room (stayed there one night after the Travelodge experience) and the breakfast area which was a bit blurry.
The more salubrious places to eat there are the two clubhouses, especially the 2010. The hotel itself is a big corporate mess of a place.
We did our tournament thingy a year before the Ryder Cup. They were desperate for PR at the time as they were pushing the corporate stuff and out of town membership (they knew it was going to be a slog post Ryder Cup) so we put together a barter package to give them loads of media coverage. We had 60+ people who got breakfast, a round with buggies on the 2010 course, lunch brought to them on the course, dinner with wine and one night's accommodation. We paid £25 per person. Best deal of it's kind I've ever done! I don't play golf.
Where abouts in the country are you from?? Am assuming you're a northerner who has lunch and not dinner.
