    Loach almost caught out, but the ball fizzed wide. The watford midfield are breaking through a fair bit according to the player. And Brentford have a corner, the new LB deflecting the ball wide, but sordell deals with it.

    Half-way through the first 45 minutes, and a lively opening quarter to the game. Both sides with chances, #brentfordfc's marginally better

    22 mins - this is a low key "reserve" friendly. It is quite competitive, but we are struggling with the final ball. A couple of half chances so far.

    As for team news, tom James is a "physically mature" player, left sided with reasonable pace. Moves a lot like Andrew Taylor.

    30 mins - still not much to report.

    Tom James is an amateur who has been playing in the Midlands. Barnes and JDM came to Watford without league experience. It doesn't happen too often, but sometimes one will make it.
