Just finished watching Band of Brothers .... Brilliant, I must admit I had a lump in my throat when they discovered the death camp (part 9). Loved the whole series though.

Went a couple of weeks ago with Mrs BMB and really enjoyed it. Today we will see 'The Belier Family' which a few of our friends have rated well.
My idea was two lads from different sides of the track so to speak Become friends, as they get older the poor one comes to work For the rich one, his dad owns a wood yard on the docks Near Hesse road, during lunch breaks and smoko's they play Darts together, the poor one is a natural, the other crap, There's more but I'm just working on it at the moment..
Yes it is. Based on quite a remarkable true story but as usual not doing justice to the book. Being Hollywood it overstates the heroism and sentimentality while omitting or downplaying less attractive aspects of the story. Although containing scenes of terrible brutality some of the worst aspects of cruelty were omitted in a vain hope not to antagonise the Japanese. Understandably it didn't go down too well there. Worth watching though.
Day 62, film 62, "meet your makers, victor Frankenstein" It's got James McAvoy in the lead roll, Daniel Radcliffe As egor, looks very goffic, trailers not bad, we'll see....
Was playing Frankenstein Pinball the other day, based on the film with de Niro, Branagh, and Helen Bonham Carter. I've never seen the film so it's gone on my list, de Niro as Frankenstein might be unintentionally funny
Been a few days, back to Kurosawa: Day 9 of Kurosawa: Yojimbo Brief synopsis: A crafty ronin comes to a town divided by two criminal gangs and decides to play them against each other to free the town. Review: Kurosawa borrowed from other films, including the atmosphere from Westerns to create this entertaining, action packed film. Honestly, I find it very hard to appreciate just how unique and original this film is considering how many times it has been copied and adapted. Not as good as his more thought provoking and less violent films, but worth the watch as it is a straight forward movie featuring a renegade samurai who tears things up with his katana and his wit. A character that has become cliched because it has been used over and over so much since this film. This movies legacy is grounded in the impact it's made on cinema and on actors. Toshiro Mifune's role as Sanjuro has influenced Clint Eastwood and Bruce Willis. On a sadder note though, I hate seeing Takashi Shimura's roles in Kurosawa films diminish in importance and screen time since Seven Samurai. In this film he plays a small part as a sake brewer, who sides with one gang lord, and his rival (a silk maker) sides with the other gang lord. The unknown Samurai who says he is Sanjuro comes along and decides to lay the smackdown on both sides. Simple as that, fun to watch, not a lot more to it. Rating: 8.5/10
