Surely these prices are too good to turn down, as well as some decent (not brilliant by a long way) football being played surely the crowds of "hardcore bluebirds" must return

I think the price is very fair. The price freeze is an added bonus <ok>

You have to take your hat off to Mr Tan, and i will be renewing and upgrading to the grandstand, have had a guts full of the family stand. As for the missing thousands, well you think they would return wouldnt you. Saturdays crowd was alot more than declared and hopefully we will see an increase over the next month or so, next home game against Dirty filthy stinking Leeds should see a crowd of around 20,000 surely.

Disappointed. No reduction for me. Still a whopping £230 for the season. £10 per game. <whistle>

How will I afford it? Lol!!!

If I sit outside the ground on a blanket, with a mangey dog and a collection hat will you all help me out?

    Big Issue anyone?

Joking aside, a very sensible move by the club to bring back the missing masses. Can't fault the extra 2 season guarantee too.

Not sure if dirty Leeds will be a big draw though. Hardly an attractive opposition with a 4.0 thrashing at Brighton.

    And don't call me Shirley!!!

BfB.....if you don't go then Barry Tiger will have to pay more now then since apparently, there is some fat b@"£$$$d that sits by him usually and spoils is comfort. Do you know anything about that?
Seriously, excellent move and to be honest it doesn't cost a lot overall. Income from seating cannot be a huge driver in terms of income and if Fortress CCS can be achieved then much more benefit can come from going up etc. 20,000 seasons at a reduction of even £100 is a 'loss' of 2 million that will be mitigated by sales of pies, shirts and other things as well as having a buoyant club.

Well done the club. Good retail principles - by reducing the cost you can increase the volume. The net result should be more bums on seats and the overall income could actually increase through this reduction and merchandising with greater numbers in there.

With the size of the CCS we're hardly going to exclude walk up on the day supporters. Even 20,000 ST's would still leave well over 10,000 seats available (if they open the new stand). The extra walk ups will crucially depend upon success on the pitch but that's always been the case at City.

There'll always be plenty of room for the pay as you go type of supporter who will efectively then be paying a premium for their seat - good business sense.

Now all we need is that elusive "success" whatever individuals regard that as. Entertaining but losing is not an option for me. Winning individual games is not going to be enough - to fill that stadium we need to be efficient and win games we've thrown away in the past - but I suppose that discussion belongs on another thread.

Will City ever get bigger attendances in the championship?

IMO City just have never been a hugely supported club. Even back in the early 70's when City were flying high, the gates for that near promotion season in 70-71 spanned believe it or not just 14,000 v Oxford and the highest only 26,000 for that disastrous game v Watford. The capacity was some 50,000, and that was when most clubs had massive crowds. Only for the odd big game like Real Madrid, Leeds, Hereford, Everton in early to mid 70s did they get much bigger crowds.

Times change, and if we get back to the PL, would we get 32,000? No way except for the big clubs.

I applaud VT for his recent display of commitment to the club, and the season ticket prices but will it drag people back down?

I agree Nin - getting back to the Prem wouldn't in itself guarantee a sell out. We managed it a few times in the season we were there but that was around 27K and without the additional seats in the new stand. We'd get a significant number of traveling Prem club supporters to boost the attendances again, but we'd need to find another 5,000 on the day local walk-ups to do it next time.

That is only ever likely to happen if we managed some form of success up there. I don't mean another "Leicester" type of run but anywhere mid table or above could push the crowds over the 30K mark quite easily. Sad to say many would be the much maligned "plastics" but it's human nature and you can't blame football fans for following success when (if?) it happens - that's always been the way particularly at City.

The first job is to get there and then the club can engage with the fans in the way they've belatedly just done. I hope this recent positive attitude at owner/CEO level pushes the club on now and only then will we really find out about the crowd numbers possible - I don't want to stare across at those empty red seats for much longer.

In the 1950s when I used to go down the city there were crowds 0f 50000 plus, mind you it was only 9 old pence to get in,and they did play attractive football.the system they used was 3,2,5,they were the days.

You know OS what is really frustrating is seeing the likes of Watford, Southampton, Bournemouth,Leicester & Palace not only survive but flourish in the PL when all it needed was some careful planning and due diligence before we kicked off at West Ham by the Board to have given the club a better chance of doing better that fateful season, rather than go in on a wIng and a prayer with too many uncertainties and guesswork.

If, and it's a big if, City ever get back there one can only but hope they would have learnt by their mistakes.

I think it's a great deal and I shall certainly be renewing my season ticket in the next few days. However as you know I sit next to this old bloke, BfB , who pays considerably less for his seat than I do for mine and as he wont split the difference with me I feel entitled to sit in part of his seat from time to time :D

Now then - the bloke that sits next to me is still sitting on the fence. What is it going to take for him to sign up ?

BT - a fence is just about what I'm sitting on when you turn up in your Michelin Man biker's gear. My wife is fed up with picking the splinters out of a delicate part of my anatomy.

"What is it going to take for him to sign up ?". You could pay me for half my seat for whenever you turn up dressed as a hell's angel!!!

Still nearly 3 weeks to April 4th so plenty of time.

Had an e-mail this morning from City As One telling me to "click here and get taken to the website personally tailored for my season ticket renewal". Pity the link doesn't work. Been timed out 5 times. Perhaps they have underestimated demand and the site is so busy it has crashed. <yikes>

Not that I was going to renew today, just wanted to see what else they would tell me.<whistle>
