So when O'Neill took over from Bruce, he wasted no time in telling every media outlet going that he was a life long SAFC fan, and managing us was his dream job??
Well Martin can feck off cause he was obviously full of shyte, and just ar$e licking all us fans to get in our good books-

Sunderland have received a slap in the face after former manager Martin O’Neill revealed he would rather Norwich City stay in the Premier League than the Black Cats .

The Wearside outfit leapfrogged the Canaries into 17th place in the top-flight table following Tuesday’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light , and the Norfolk club’s home defeat to Chelsea.

Though a boyhood Sunderland fan, O’Neill enjoyed two brief spells at Carrow Road during his playing career.

He subsequently managed Norwich, albeit just as briefly, leaving after six months following a fall out with chairman Robert Chase.

The 64-year-old - now managing the Republic of Ireland - replaced Steve Bruce at the Wearside helm in December 2011, before his sacking in March 2013.

And asked on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Tuesday which of the two former clubs he would choose to spare from relegation, O’Neill said: “I think the answer would be down in Norfolk.

“I played at Norwich City in two little spells and I enjoyed it immensely.

“Although I only had a few months there as a manager, because the chairman and I didn’t see eye to eye at the time, I have got a real soft spot for them which is remarkable when my time as a boy was Sunderland.”

Martin O'Neil doesn't like us as much as Norwich. My world is shattered.

    Well why even comment then??

Im sure none of us are going to lose any sleep either, it just goes to show the amount of bullshit spouted by managers and players when they join a new club.

Just my way of saying how much regard I've got for him - not a snipe at the post.

He was no more a fan of Sunderland than Bruce is a fan of Newcastle.

I think Charlie Hurley was his hero and that is what attracted him to us the fact he was from Ireland was the major factor once he retired his "support" was always going to wane
