They couldn`t. The trial had just started. There were still other charges to be answered. Legally gagged imo. The reason I say that is that the club did issue a statement within minutes of the verdicts. I reckon they`d have loved to say something sooner but were simply not allowed.

You`re right about the interest though. Next is the sentence and the possible appeal.

Maybe. I'm no law professor! Really I don't see why they can't immediately refute something said on public record. To be honest, how many of the jury who cleared him of sexual activity on one count now think he's a blatant liar and probably believe the girl about it?
