Sorry to say this, but Trump is trumps. <laugh>

Looks like he'll probably take at least ten of the 11 thingies.

Senator Rubio has gone for the wood. His slight at the small hands of Trump and what it means about the man, brought the house down. In a stand up routine that would make any comedian proud, he got his audience roaring when in reference to the Donald's spray tans, he offered. " He's gonna turn America orange."

    Delegate count to date.

    Republicans.
    Trump. 82.
    Cruz. 17.
    Rubio. 16.

    Democrats.
    Clinton. 91.
    Sanders. 65.

And the Trump war machine continues to smash all before it. With the Republican establishment's desperate plan to shore up the ever weakening ramparts now in tatters after the Super Tuesday massacre at the hands of the run away gob of the GOP, thoughts now turn to doing an Ides of March on their loyal servant Marco Rubio. If Rubio, Cruz and Kasich can hobble enough delegates on March 15, a date seen by some as the last chance to stop General Trump from wrapping up the contest, then there's a chance that the glint of the well honed knives will light up the room as they plunge hilt deep into poor Rubio's back. As they stand over the blood drenched corpse, and begin fearfully whispering among themselves, the loathsome name of Cruz will slowly take make it's presence known, and the shock of the name will send a shudder through their veins. With crimson gore upon their daggers, they'll have to stand before their Antony and beg forgiveness for past wrong doings, for he will be their only possible salvation.

This is the classic protest vote from Republican supporters, fed up of mainstream politicians and falling for Trumps pledge to clean things up and make America great again. Many analysts are saying they are simply handing election victory to Mrs Clinton on a plate but that view, once again, underestimates not only the strength of the Trump campaign but also the degree to which Americans are sick and tired of mainstream, middle of the road politics and its utter failure to deliver anything to anyone except the super rich. I expect the same sentiments to wash over Europe in the coming months and years. People are just fed up.

And the thing that gets me, is that people are of the opinion that Trump is better than mainstream politics. Is he?

The good thing about politics there, is the power to constrain. Even with the push of the president, gun control is almost impossible. Health care is another issue that even a president has trouble dealing with. If the Congress and the Senate remain in different hands, then the balance of power can he a god send. (Not that I think the reforming of the health care system in the USA didn't need it.) Even among the Republicans, Trump will struggle to get his way, even if he's elected to the top job. There is no chance of a wall or massive restrictions on Muslim entry. He may want a lot, but he'll get sweet **** all when it comes to his radical agenda.

Will the 1-2 Clinton and 2-1 Trump hold up when they go head to head for the presidency, or will this Trump swell spread to the general public as well? If the Republicans get a bigger than normal turn out, which looks on the cards, will enough Democrats cross over to get Trump home? Bookies often get this stuff right, so Clinton is expected to win, but I can't escape the feeling that this wave of discontent could become quite ugly. It just might spread.

Ok, this is getting a bit complicated. It seems that going into Super Tuesday the Donald had won 65% of all delegates awarded so far, and although he didn't really do himself any real hard a couple of days ago, it looks like he may have taken a bit of a hit. Even after winning 7 of the 11 of the states up for grabs on Super Tuesday, his percentage dropped from 65% has slipped to 47%. In total, he took 250 delegates, while Rubio and Cruz between them won 320. The thinking seems to be that having the attack dogs set upon him in the lead up to Super Tuesday, may have had an effect. The plan now seems to be stopping Trump from amassing the 1237 delegates needed to win the first round ballot at the GOP Convention at Cleveland in July. If they can, then a great deal of horse trading will take place. It seems a bit unlikely, but there is a chance that Trump may fall at the last fence. But a lot will depend on whether Rubio can hold his home state of Florida.

P.S. An interesting side light to the Super Tuesday outcome, the following question. "How can I move to Canada?" jumped 1150% on Google. <laugh>

A brokered convention is the forlorn hope the GOP establishment is clinging to. It's a fantasy.

As for Canada, wasn't the Donald going to build a wall there too?

There is a Friday night live comedy show on Channel 4 TV in Britain, fronted by Aussie comedian Adam Hills, called The Last Leg and they had a real laugh with this one.

The US/Canadian border is 5,000 plus miles long (a bit longer than the Mexican one), so in order to help the Canadians out with keeping the neighbours south of that border, they created a website (which was crashed by viewers live on the show) called Bricking It For Canada with a button that can be clicked to contribute bricks – with animated moose approval. No word on whether they are getting Donald Trump to pay for this wall...

The way the selection process works in the Republican race seems quite strange. On the news the other night, it was stated that Donald Trump only has about 34 per cent of the votes but he keeps winning because the opposition vote is split between too many no hopers, so Trump is getting the majority of the delegates.

If the Republican elders want to stop Trump getting the nomination, they are going to have to persuade the others to play ball. John Kasich never had any chance so he is just wasting somebody’s money running. The establishment candidate would be Marco Rubio although he trails Ted Cruz, who is possibly too evangelical to carry all the Republican support. Trump wants Rubio out of the race, so he must see him as the biggest threat. Rubio has to turn it around in his home state Florida or he is surely toast.
