well now that is true of course. QPR did get a chunk as they deserved.

I don't think if you are in enough to get to such a party you should act the clown thats all, just my view.

"But if ‘such and such’ want to stay, can we make them stay? Every case is an individual case. Ross Barkley, for example, is an Evertonian... it is his club. So that’s that answer. Everyone else... we will never lose a player now because we are unable to give him what he deserves"

right. so all he said was Barkley will be loyal.. like rooney was... and then others will be given huge pay to not move.

What he intimated was that the wages on offer elsewhere would no longer be a reason for our star players to leave...and the club now stood much more of a chance of matching the ambition of those players on the pitch.

Which doesn't preclude the likes of Lukaku and Stones wanting out in the summer, but it gives us a better chance of keeping them, than we had last week.......

    probably fair.

but when they are all linging up for the big wages it creates issues of its own.

You still can't compete on wages. We can't compete when it comes to top level. Neither of us can offer over 150k a week to players, something that Barkley, lukaku could easily get by moving to Chelsea or city or United. That's before you even start looking abroad.

Can't speak for Everton but you're wrong there Bisc, its our owners policy to purchase players of a certain age that won't expect mega bucks in wages but our club income suggests that we can purchase better/established players on better wages.
Klopp supposedly won't be held by that strategy in the transfer market and with the extra TV revenue there can be no excuses and on top of that our neighbours are about to be spending big due to their new major shareholder, as if we'd accept playing 2nd fiddle to the Blues in the transfer market.<whistle>
FSG's policy would be great if it was working but it's clearly not tbh.

I don't think we can afford to spend £40m on a player plus wages of £200k. Unless we sold 3 or 4 and brought only one in.

No way can we compete financially with those mega rich clubs

In terms of "mega rich" club's we're the 8th richest in the world, in terms of mega rich owners loaning money to club's through hedge funds ours isn't prepared to do that even though by all means he's mega-rich.
FSG as a whole are worth more than David Moore's who apart from his **** up selling us to H&G used to back us and buy top players and pay top wages.
If our owners don't watch out their asset will slip further down the food chain.

    At last some sense. <ok>

At the risk of opening a can of worms, the ignorance of some here on the subject of racism is really astonishing. How anyone could even say it is anywhere near racism is just so disappointing. It is a stretch to even suggest xenophobia. These are white English speaking billionaires. <doh>

"In press conferences I have to answer the questions I am asked - and they are not all of a high level," says Van Gaal.

Sounds like Ronaldo. If only the press were at his level they'd understand his #philosophy

Look its as simple as this.

the more you move the more money goes into strange tax deferral accounts that are used to hold signing on fees etc.

The old I am Everton or LFC man is gone and frankly i'm actually surprised that its even exists any more in barca and real where moving between is seen as a sin.

I can see a time coming where they are all pure mercenary and move round every 3 years and you assemble a team over night and it vanishes as quick.

paying 200k per week will become more normal outside the elites with the tv money. people are already trying to put players on deals prior to tv money so they don't ask for twice as much next year.

I mean the reality is we gave mingolet a new contract at 85k or something. that could be average weekly wage in prem by the end of the current tv deal. if we were doing this silly deal next year it could be 120k.

Top wages then were 100k a week and we were a CL team without FFP to worry about we were top of the food chain along with Arsenal and United.

Now ow although our turnover may be 8th biggest I doubt our profit is. I'm not saying. We are poor, far from it, and maybe on a one off transfer we could compete if we rally wanted to, but on a regular basis, we couldn't afford to bring in 3/4 players at top end transfer money and wages.

Sheikh Mansour isn't white. The fact that he's a billionaire is irrelevant.

    Ignorance indeed.

Put yours way mate, it's embarrassing.

How many players in the PL are getting over £150k a week?

    A slack handful, that's all.

If they're already your player then there's no transfer fee, so you're not shelling out £30-40m on fees as well as a huge salary.

    FSG+Brendan+Committee acquired 33 players at a cost of £292,050,000
Don't know what their wages were so don't know the full total but let's say he'd have been better off being allowed to purchase say 15 players of quality to add to what he had when he took over in 2012 rather than 33 of quantity and pay better wages.

And this is true too. when you are top of food chain your loss of players is much less so you can pick and choose. As we are now 7th and consistently 7th players want to move after 2 years onto the next step. so the turnover is faster.

the average wages is about 50k so that'll inform us.

I would say you could probably count them as <10 at each mega rich club. City have some ridiculous number of player son vast wages but at cheslea i'd say its quite small. at utd its mixed, at arsenal its very rare.
