A COUPLE of appearances by a loan man is not normally enough to make a judgement on whether a player should be offered a full-time contract. In the instance of Nick Powell, it's all you need, writes Peter Swan. Hull City boss Steve Bruce came out last week and said he wants to try and keep the Manchester United player long term, and he is hopeful of tying Powell down to a contract at the KC Stadium. Obviously Bruce sees him in training everyday, sees the type of character he is and what he brings to the group on and off the field. We are left to make a judgement from his brief moments on the field, but already I have seen enough to know City should do all they can to keep hold of him. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Stev...tory-28830750-detail/story.html#ixzz41eatvYVR
He's a long way from proven yet but I think the signs are encouraging enough to take a punt. Admittedly we could be looking at another Hatem Ben Arfa situation but Powell looks to have more character about him, is probably more determined to prove himself in England, and wouldn't have the same pressure of expectation in that he won't be expected to be a world-beater from day 1. Suspect Powell's agent will be telling him to do nothing until the end of the season at which point he'll probably have more options - especially if he continues to progress with match fitness (look how long it's taken other players to get fully up to speed).
He's a cracking player in his shell If he can sort out off the field problems he's got the world at his feet sort of
Bruce wants to sign everyone after a couple of games, was the same with Hayden and now he's not even playing him. Maybe it's psychological tactics or maybe he's just got these bouts of enthusiasm.
I guess if he brings someone in and he lifts the spirit of the squad and trains well then he thinks they're worth having. People say Bruce cocked up the team spirit the summer before last as a reason why we went down so if he thinks they can contribute to the spirit as well as add something different to the squad then I'd say get em signed up.
He might be useful but I find these sudden temporary bouts of enthusiasm quite funny. Anyway I think most want to see where we end up after this season before committing.
First time I've properly seen him was at home to Wednesday. Liked the look of him, tried to make things happen, not everything he tried worked but at least he tried. I don't know if it was by accident or design but quite liked the free role he had when he came on. The only player I've known shut up the " get it forward " brigade sat behind me. For that reason alone I'd sign him.
Peter Swan is not perfect, but as a former experienced professional, he has a decent insight into the the game, as such he is a reasonable choice of contributor for a local rag or radio station.
Without a doubt. Being a PL club once again will sort it out. Just like the rest of our out of contract players. Powell drips class. Anyone at the Arsenal fac game will have seen that.
Made me laugh. A Person that is: brainless, stupid, child-like, and full of pointless information that makes no sense and appeals only to other cretins. They can be found in abundance in every single populated internet forum, where they race to post as many mind-numbing messages as possible in a single session. In addition, they seemingly interbreed with other cretins, ensuring that their cretinous genes continue long after they end up dead meaning the Internet will never be rid of their kind. More's the pity........... Nice.
He hasn't shown the ability to do so yet. I haven't seen any creativity from him so will reserve judgement until I've seen more of him. I certainly wouldn't buy him onthe evidence I've seen so far.
