Anyone moaning about the "core" users on here, needs to realise that we keep this board going and as far as getting grief" goes I've had loads of grief and it bothers me not one jot. Why would it? It's my opinion, maybe my opinions might be wrong or right, it really doesn't matter and that goes for all of us. Just post what you think is right and you'll be doing a good job. Get posting people! ****s
**** me you're an old predictable broken record. It was a modestly funny joke, once or twice, over a year ago. Garage, not shed.
Why do I read the site every day but only occasionally post? Well, it's usually down to the following: • Not wanting to be involved in endless bickering on threads (yes, I know forums are designed for debate but seriously - some of the threads on here just ****ing ramble on and on) • A lack of genuine interaction from others when posting. The site can be cliquey (just like any forum) and if opinion and comment are ignored in favour of continuous arguing between certain members, people will lose interest in participating. This isn't a reflection on my experiences, just what I've observed with some others. • I like the diverse mix of views from what I think is the broadest spectrum of City fans. What I don't have time for is people who perpetuate the same old **** and aren't prepared to accept reasoned argument. It's tedious. I post on a few other forums on a range of subjects and what works well is when there's a mix of personal experience and feeling matched with informed opinion - leading to debates that question and provide insight. If that were to happen here I'd probably contribute more. In summary: Less bickering and spouting of unfounded opinions, more open and informed debate. I'll **** off now and get back to lurking, as realistically none of the above is going to happen - and that's fine. I accept the site for what it is, but it's also the reason I rarely post.
As an occasional poster, this nails it in terms of my experience. I see well considered and interesting points swamped by silly arguing about who said what, who intended to say what and swearing high pissing contests. Which isn't necessarily a criticism, cos those things can sometimes be amusing, but it's often a shame. In a sense the board is a victim of its own popularity - interesting threads get diverted into arguments very quickly because of the sheer scale of traffic.
Exactly this^^ - and unless scale of traffic diminishes, which seems unlikely, it'll remain as it is; dealing with piss taking and, lets be honest, the occasional bouts of ****ishness, isn't for everyone. There'll always be readers and non-posters. A football MB promoting and moderated to give 'peace and harmony for all' would, I believe, have very few members and still have readers and lurkers, it's human nature.
Ok luv, didn't realise you were still a bit touchy about it. Making a mental note to self to not annoy Ben when he is on his monthly.
I will post more when I have more to contribute. But I'm a relative newbie to the beautiful game (circa 2010) and am still learning the ropes, so I don't expect to be able to contribute much into the foreseeable future. Now, if anyone wants to query me about St. Louis Cardinals baseball I will be a font of information, but I don't think that's going to happen!
Christ if you cant argue about football theres no point. My mate has a pathological hatred of Ashley Young, has done for years. I intentionally bring it up and say how well he's doing, obviously its been a bit quite lately... Just to get him going. Thats what happens on here sometimes. Charon loves Alex Bruce he just does it to wind us all up.
I tend to post inane bullshit as a rule and the odd pisstake. I can't really be bothered with the footballing discussion type post as everyone sees the game differently and has varied but valid opinions. I will continue to contribute when I am either pissed or something really gets to me. I love the banter though and think that as a group we are a veritable Smorgasbord of knobheads, weirdo's, CSM's and the odd genuine nice human being like Ernie.
Agree with the bold line - only time I (but not always) get sucked in is when one of the few board **bell-ends posts something that I find particularly ****ish. **They know who they are.
