Erm Ozil, Sanchez and Cech. Granted Sanchez was a cast off from Barca but he can slot into most top Euro sides. Ozil and Cech are top drawer.
When was the last time we went for a player that any one of those other clubs also went for, both offers were accepted by the selling team, and the player chose the other club ahead of us?
So was Henry and Bergkamp and we know how good they were. Sometimes, some players don't work in teams or the managers, but it doesn't make them any less top drawer!
Of course the big clubs sometimes sell good players by mistake. But that is hardly the case with Ozil, Sanchez and Cech. None of them would be first choice at their previous clubs and that is simply because they are not as good as the players remaining.
Not just Leicester though is it, Spurs are above them as well. They have not finished above 3rd for 12 years. They wax lyrical about Ozil, Sanchez, Koscielny, Bellerin, Monreal and Coquelin yet when they fail to turn up against kids it's the managers fault.
In answer to the thread title, maybe Premier League supporters expect to much of their team in the modern game. I'm please Leicester are leading the way, just waiting now for all the plastics to start wearing their shirts
When you consider we're in the top 10 in the world for annual revenue and annual player salaries... does anyone look at us Getting a bit lost with who 'they' and 'them' are in your post. Anyway, most of the Chelsea team failed to turn up against almost every team they played in the first half of the season. Changing managers certainly made no difference whatsoever there...
Yeh I dont think we're saying much different. Except that, that team you've said is more than capable of being on 71 points in a season where the top team is on 76 points. But the same team dont manage that in a season where the top team is on 56?? The fact they hit a celing at 5-7 pts behind, suggests to me that mentally they seem to be dictated to by those above them regardless of the points tally.
