Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is planning for next season as he plans to axe high earners Rob Green and Junior Hoilett, according to the Sun.

With both the veteran goalkeeper and the tricky winger both being out of their contract in May, the Dutchman has made it clear that neither player has a future at the club.
It was already clear that Green would be looking to leave when it was released that the club was purposefully not playing him as it would trigger the one-year extension on his contract and he has now lost his place to Alex Smithies.
The former England international was linked with moves to West Ham Crystal Palace in the January transfer window but the move didn’t materialise for the 36-year-old keeper but he could find himself playing in the top flight next season given his experience.
Junior Hoilett, on the other hand, is more of a surprise departure considering the fact that he has performed well when playing in Hasselbaink’s side and actually scored in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Birmingham City.
However, the enigmatic winger is clearly not in the young Dutch manager’s plans and with his departure, it would free up a lot of wages for other signings.
Hoilett impressed in the Premier League for both Blackburn and Queens Park Rangers and like Green, Premier League sides may be looking at him as a potentially cheap signing, wages aside, that would bolster the quality of their squad and offer them a different outlet.
Either way, both Rob Green and Junior Hoillett will leave in the summer as Hasselbaink has begun to mould the squad in a way that he wants it too.
The Hoops are eleventh in the Championship after a disappointing season and they find themselves eleven points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who occupy the final play-off spot.

    As a mascot?

He's probably OK for the Championship, but a luxury we apparently can't afford.

Not for me - he has been better of late, but woeful for a couple of years... funny how the carrot of a new contract does that to players...

Unlikely to be willing take a pay cut (would you) and given the positive impact of El Khayati I would hope there are better options (hidden gems) from the lower leagues who would offer better bang for the club's buck

Going off on a bit of a tangent....what is it with reporters that write about QPR?
All the headlines read along the lines of ......QPR star (s), QPR starlet(s)....then on to the rest of the headline.

Without denigrating any of the R's team, why are the players "stars" or "starlets" when clearly many of them are not.

To be more clear - Stan Bowles was a star, Les Ferdinand was a star - Half of the current crop are nowhere near that level.

Hoilett's inconsistency and lack of intelligent play has riled a lot of QPR supporters but we shouldn't let that blind us to his talent. I suspect that if there was anyway we could retain him on reduced wages we would do so but he's still relatively young so will attract a bigger salary than we're now willing to offer. Yet another one who got away IMO - with the right coaching he could have been an important player for us and could still make it big elsewhere.

Junior would be ideal for the China League, plenty of money and he doesn't need to break sweat

I'd keep Junior if I could but if, after a new contract, he reverted to pre JFH form, that would be VERY annoying!

He is a class player in this league but one we can not afford. Philips might be right behind him.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. He's never quite realised his potential but his recent form has been much better and it would be tempting to keep him if we could bring his wages into line with our new pay structure. He still lacks end product (good crosses, goals) but he'd be good to keep for the right money, provided he didn't suffer a relapse the week after signing a new contract....

We could snick in a 'crap' clause and hope he does not notice.

"If you become crap again within 10 days of signing a new contract, we will summarily dismiss your sorry ass". Seems fair to me!

More seriously, like most businesses, I'm sure what we read about is only a shadow of the reality. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out. If they are determined to let him go, that either speaks well of future intentions or they will have cut off their proverbial nose. Time will tell.

Hopefully we make a few bob on somebody. I would hate to see us give away all our best players for little or nothing.
