some would call it mismanagement! You can only assume that at that point Eddie hadn't pulled the plug, or was considering doing that? That aside someone at the club should have been advising Eddie differently on how to run the clubs investment and finances (Gartside?). Eddie has been taken for a ride, unless of course he was happy to put that level of investment in and write it off which is his decision to make! Shame when acting as benefactor he won't be leaving the same legacy that Jack Walker did at Blackburn for half that amount!

They could well be back in this position in a couple of years if they go down this year.
Im assuming some of these players will still get this cash if relegated

Yeah I saw that one after I'd posted about Heskey. Completely stupid for such an unproven player. They couldve done what we did in our last promotion season and have loan keepers looking for experience with their parent club picking up the chunk of their wages.

If they get relegated I hate to think of the consequences for them. Revenue down further, more dependant upon gate receipts than ever, and if relegation clauses are not in players contracts then the monthly debt will increase unless they can sell players and get them off the wage bill. I suspect what 'crown jewels' remain in terms of tangible assets, buildings, land etc. will be sold also?

At face value they could be were City where 10 years ago, nice shiny stadium and having to start again afresh with lower league players

The takeover by the Sports Shield consortium has just been completed.

I still fear for them particularly as Holdsworth's biggest financial backer has pulled out. Fingers crossed, and here's to better days for them, and sustainability once they get their wage bill down big time!

Bolton's new owners have confirmed they've paid their outstanding tax bill to HMRC.
