We've had plenty of decent, but frail sides over the years. Good technically, poor physically and mentally. What annoys me more than anything is the lack of any real progression, we seem to have a ceiling that we can't break through. There is one constant though, throughout all these sides. I think you know who that is.
It will happen every year that AW is here so the main thing is to just let it wash over Don't forget he's holding us together. Without him our team containing world cup winners, £30m+ players etc would be struggling to finish top half.
You lot love to whine...ffs you are just 5 points off the top...and just 3 points behind us...we were 7 points off you lot 6 matches ago and you were crowing about how **** we were but now it's all about how **** you are...maybe, just maybe you should remember that if there has been a 10 point turn around between spurs and arsenal in just 6 matches then a 5 point lead over you (by Leicester) with 11 to go is nothing. Mind you ... I hope your players are as negative as you lot!
Last night's game just confirmed my fears about this team, they are not Championship material. They've consistently buckled under pressure and even when conditions are ripe to take the lead, they've failed. As Excel mentioned in the game thread, if we do somehow win the title, it'll be regardless of Wenger. He's got the team as far as he can and he simply can't take them any further. The two team's above us don't have the same resources, players or stability we have, yet it's Manure and Chelsea all over again. This season, we've been the most stable club of all the top teams, Wenger has the luxury of unsurpassed control and support, something no other manager has ever had in the Premiership. Yet you've consistently flopped at key moments of this season, with or without our best players. We played really well against Barca, then got beaten by a patched up, reserve/youth Manure team, how the hell does that happen? What has happened to Sanchez? It looks like the Arsenal negativity has hit him too and is playing as sh1t as the rest. But the nature of the Premiership this season, we will no doubt have another bite of the apple, despite our general sh1tiness. You'd think that Leicester will run out of steam or Spurs will do their usual imploding routine, but both teams are looking more solid and capable than ours. Those two should be the winners of the title, unless both have a Kevin Keegan moment...
You really think that? Like others have stated, the results for the past decade are constant in being so near and yet so far. I heard a pundit on Talk Radio Europe recently saying that if Alex Ferguson had had the current Arsenal squad they would have had at least 10 more points in the bag by now.
Perhaps this is why many Arsenal players are so often injured. And as for technique, Oxo did not display that either against Barcelona the other night.
Perhaps Jose Mourinho is just creating a smokescreen by saying he has the "United" job. What if Arsenal finish outside the top 4, would that be time to move Wenger upstairs so that the club can recruit the "Special One."
I'd rather we were relegated than let that egotistical clown tarnish the image of our club. As bad as we are, I hope we'd never lower ourselves to such a classless level and hire him.
Again, i'm taking the pi55 out of some posters who DO think that. I think nothing of the sort. I actually think, with the current resources at his disposal, this is relatively the worst Arsenal side and most underachieving team AW has ever been in charge of. At least 5 years ago he could say he had limited funds. Now he doesn't have that to hide behind it's clear the only thing limited about Arsenal is AW's own managerial abilities.
I think what the past few years have shown is that it doesn't matter whether we have money or not. It doesn't matter about whether the quality of our players are any good. More or less every problem that we have and that we face is because of the manager and no amount of money can change his management qualities or motivational skills. We are complaining about exactly the same things as we were 7/8/9 years ago. I've said it before. We weren't that far off from winning the title. But we needed a few tweaks, both in terms of personnel and tactics. And the one man who could actually do something about it refused to act. And now this is the price we have to pay for his negligence. When everyone thought things were going fine and dandy in December and I remained sceptical, people thought I was being silly for questioning and criticising Wenger because we were top. I said let's see how we fare over February and March. Sadly, my fears and worries have come true. So far, we have failed every single test that has come our way and things aren't going to get any easier for us. This is our chickens coming home to roost.
You've got no entitlement to be better. You are the fourth biggest club by resources so on average you should be fourth. Wenger is easily beating that. The problem is that he is 'too consistent'. If he took more risks you might be first or second more often but you would be 5th or 6th more often too.
I've seen you post things like this on here multiple times and I've already explained to you why this is wrong, but you keep coming out with this nonsense. Stop it.
Irrelevant. It doesn't matter if a few clubs have a tiny bit more money than us because there are enough top drawer players to go around anyway. If I had 50p and you had 60p and we each had to buy 25 one penny sweets to fill our sweet squad and we had a box of 300 different sweets to choose from, we'd both end up with a top notch selection of sweets.
Yes, but the 3 teams with more resources are having unusually awful seasons (by their standards). Given the table 6 weeks ago, it was Arsenal's to lose. Now they are holding on by their fingernails to their title aspirations.
The top notch players are at Barca, Bayern, Real M. City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal have to look at what hasn't been hovered up by those three. For example, Cavani or Suarez?
Every other team takes more risks than Wenger - so they both lose more and win more. But its incredibly risky to drop out of the CL if you don't have massive income like Man U, Man C and Chelsea. I'd say a new Arsenal manager would more likely turn the club into having Liverpool's recent results than Chelsea's. Wenger has achieved his objective of finishing above 1 or 2 of the bigger clubs most years. Its not his fault that Leicester and Spurs are over-achieving this year.
That really isn't right. When did Arsenal last sign a top player ahead of Man C, Man U, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich? Your best players have all been released by one of those. Its actually very hard for Wenger to sign better players than you've got because no-one any better will go to Arsenal. In Spurs situation we can take the risk of playing a lot of younger players because we've got nothing to lose if it goes wrong.
