One header narrowly wide at the opposite end. 7 Andy Robertson: Not up to his excellent standards set at Ipswich in midweek but no disgrace in that. McGeady was a tricky customer to contain but City's full-back was the one on the front foot in the second half. Typically bright. 6 Robert Snodgrass: Denied an early opener when Westwood spread himself well to narrow the angles and put in a great shift on the right flank. Tracked all the way back to lead a counter attack from his own corner flag at one point. 7 Jake Livermore: Started off as the dominant midfield force and hit those heights again after the break. Played his part in a clever one-two that saw Clucas hit the post and always looked like the inspiration for a winner that never came. 7 (STARMAN) David Meyler: A third start in less than a week was justified on the back of two strong performances and he again played his part in a fiercely competitive midfield tussle. Withdrawn on the hour mark as fatigue crept in. 6 Sam Clucas: A big player in City's bright start to the game before he was pushed back on his heels. Came again after the break when hitting the side netting and then desperately unlucky when striking the post. 7 Mo Diame: Wednesday stuck to City's dangerman like glue for much of the first half, even if there was space for one magnificent cross-field pass. Grew as the game wore on, showing a lovely passing range that stretched the Owls. 7 Abel Hernandez: Forced to feed off scraps for much of the first half but benefited as City came on powerfully after the break. One shot saved well by Westwood and then showed his confidence with a drive from all of 35 yards. 6 Subs: Nick Powell (for Meyler 62) A home debut saw some neat touches in the Wednesday half but not the killer pass. 6 Chuba Akpom (for Diame 78) Another brief cameo for the striker who craves a start in the Championship. 6 Ahmed Elmohamady (for Snodgrass 90) No opportunity to make a mark on the game. 6

The other one 'to somehow stumble' over the finish line and win automatic promotion to the Premier ( or First Division) was, in case you've forgot, Steve Bruce.

You appear to completely miss the point. Never before has a City manager had the embarrassment of talent (and money) at his disposal. He took us down when we should never even have been at risk. With the squad he's got, and the money he's spent, he should have us promoted in some style. Instead it's as dull and frustrating as hell (the vast majority of the time). McGregor, Dawson, Davies, Robertson, Livermore, Diame, Huddlestone, Hernandez, Maloney, Elmo, Hayden, Akpom, Dave, and arguably others - all capable PL players, and talent we could only dream about having when we were a division 2 and lower side. Yet we're mainly negative, we stutter along. Everything's 'so tough', 'one of those horrible ones', 'difficult', blah blah. I'm feeling he's going to blow it, which would be absolutely criminal. If you are happy with his management then fine, that's you prerogative. I'm not. I do though hope I'm wrong and he takes us up.

Your going a long, long way back. I saw the 65/66 title winning season under Cliff Britain but it was the old division 3, and under Raich Carter it wasn't even that it was the old division 3 North, before that it must have been before WW2 ? My point is Steve Bruce is the only manager so far to get us promoted automatically at this level and he is well on course to do it again. But for some that's not good enough.
No we're not! The league is 3 divisions, out of which we are approx. 20th. Add the PL (adjusted for games played) and we are approx. 27th. If you mean 'in the division', then yes, we are 4th. However, take out the one-off, freak score against Charlton (only Huddersfield <5>, and Burnley <4> have tonked them), we would be around 8th to 10th depending on what you replace the 6 with. Considering the squad we've got, it's not that impressive now is it? Bruce's approach is to make us tough to beat, and we know he is lacking when it comes to attacking coaching and tactics. His approach MIGHT be enough for us to stumble across the finish line ("there he goes again"). I fear it won't be , which is why I go on about it, because I care, ...... and if we're honest, it's as dull as **** 90+% of the time which might be ok for some but it does my head in, especially when I look at what he has at his disposal. That's my opinions, but unfortunately 1 or 2 ****s on here don't believe posters are entitled to opinions that differ to their's and even are so ignorant as to tell people to go top themselves. I wonder if they'd post such comments if they had friends or relatives in that position. Arseholes.
On another note, whose idea was it to show a montage of Michael Turner's City goals 10 mins before kick-off ? Popular player and all that but not the sort of thing you do just before he plays against you.
