Just finished watching the film Steve Jobs, the story of the master innovator who co-created the Apple company. I understand that it hasn't been that successful so far, which is surprising as it is a very good film indeed and gives a real sense of the era and the man. Whilst it isn't entirely accurate about it's timings of certain events, it does illustrate fairly accurately the human relationships surrounding Jobs life from the time. One or two genuine characters are there to provide a sounding board for Jobs to bounce off. For example, when co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak keeps reminding Jobs to remember the Apple II team, it's a metaphor for saying remember the people who helped make you successful. To which Jobs reveals more of himself. It's fair to say that without Wozniak, there would have been no Apple company created. What the film does very well is show that Jobs requires control of his life, his company, his products, and those around him. He is driven by innovation and style, and he appears to care little for what people think of him. The action splits its time between front and backstage before presentations of three new products. The backstage action reveals the intimate Jobs and front of stage is more of the public persona. Like him or not, he's an interesting character. A master manipulator, a man who will argue his point to the nth degree and then acquiesce if he decides its worth his while to do so. It's another good story [see Spotlight review] and is well acted by the cast. Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet are both excellent. If you haven't seen it, it's recommended. Are Hollywood films with good stories making a comeback? On the evidence of viewing recent efforts, it seems so.
This is the latest one TSS? Have you seen the earlier film with Ashton Kucher? I've seen that one but not the latest.
Yeah, note Michael Fassbender. Haven't seen the earlier film from 2013. Have to admit that it was Fassbender's quality as an actor, rather than the story first and foremost, that made me decide to watch this version. I will probably watch the earlier one, if only for comparison purposes.
Just the thought of the subject matter and the things they were doing. I know it's about them getting found out and the uncovering of it, but those things still sicken me. I certainly have it as a film I will be watching soon.
Yes it is a sickening subject matter, but there's nothing to see, FLT. Don't be put off by that. As with the best radio dramas, those actions are referred to, not performed. There's absolutely nothing gratuitous about this film. It doesn't sanitise, but neither does it disgust the eyes. The emotions do get thrown about, that's for sure.
Yes, I read that it was referred to rather than anything shown. I am certainly expecting an emotional ride on this one, hence my original post saying I'll be seeing it but also partly not looking forward. Sounds a very good film.
No afraid not ........ But on the plus side if those numbers do come up then surely I will win on my own
I think DTLW will like it especially, as his profession, with certain reservations, comes out of the story as the hero. I suppose it's a bit like All The President's Men, but centred around a very human story. Also, I didn't mention it before, but Michael Keaton is one of the starring actors. He's had something of a renaissance of late because I saw him in Birdman and he was brilliant in that, and he's excellent in this too. He's got that edgy quality which makes everything he appears in slightly better.
The chances of many people selecting those numbers is low, but your chances of winning remain the same. All combinations of number have the same likelihood of turning up.
If they come in Fran I will buy u a large drink of your choice ...... But knowing my luck a pot of tea or half a lager will have to suffice
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/stag-party-brits-kicked-off-ryanair-plane-berlin-003533745.html Stag party from Southampton become so rowdy that plane forced to land in Berlin instead of Slovakia. They now face a massive fine and have to get home from Berlin. Why don't these groups just wait till they get to their destination....this sort of things happens so often. Why don't the airlines do total flight bans on them....at least for a few years.....they might get the message then.
I'm back, and I just have no words to describe the last few days. Suffice to say, I completely forgot that we were playing Chelsea yesterday. Billy Duffy had to remind me. It was that immersive. I'll find the words eventually but they won't do it justice. Great to see Chilcs again though!!!
Better than I ever imagined. There was about 3,000 people in at Brixton Academy when she played. Everyone blown away. Ian and Billy wanted us to do the whole tour but we just can't afford to sadly. Real life is a bore sometimes!
