The Swans have had a nice break to regroup, while we've faced two tough opponents, so this could be tricky. Their form has generally picked up a bit since they replaced their manager, too. Ours has been very good in the league, though. The game at The Liberty in October ended 2-2, despite us scoring three goals. Eriksen scored twice from his usual free-kicks and both were equalisers. Ayew put Swansea ahead fairly early on, then a Kane OG put them into the lead again after the Dane leveled. We had to wait until the second half to even it up again, which is how it finished. Last season's visit from our Welsh opponents resulted in a 3-2 victory. A late Sigurdsson goal probably made it look a little closer than it should've been, though. Chadli, Mason and Townsend scored for us that day, with Ki getting their other goal. No new injury news at the moment, but I'll be sweating on the availability of some of our players. Kane and Dembele will be big misses if they're out for long. Lineups for the last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Rose; Dier, Dembele; Son, Eriksen, Alli; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Davies, Mason, Carroll, Chadli, Lamela. League form: LWWWWW. Swans: Fabianski; Rangel, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor; Ayew, Cork, Britton, Routledge; Sigurdsson; Paloschi. Subs: Nordfeldt, Amat, Naughton, Ki, Fer, Barrow, Gomis. League form: LWWDDL. Referee: Mike Jones (Sounds a bit Welsh...). Lots of places up for grabs at the moment, so who do you think should start? If Kane's out, should Chadli persist? If not, then who to replace him? Son? Harrison? Do we need to rest anyone and should we rotate our fullbacks, as we have been doing?
This is an intriguing fixture. Crucial that we win but ideally an opportunity to rotate once again, given the closeness of the two London derbies - both of which will be much harder fixtures than this. I think we'll need Rose and Walker back to counter the pace they have on the flanks. I'd prefer Harry to sit this one out if he's just had a procedure on that noble beak of his. I'd much rather he gets a few more days recovery and hits West Ham and Arsenal full strength. Same goes for Alli - he's started 3 games on the bounce now and we'll need him fully charged for the next two games. I was extremely impressed with Mason this evening and I think Swnasea's style of play gives him plenty of room to operate between the lines. That said, I'd go for: Hugo Walker Toby Wimmer Rose Mason Dier Lamela Eriksen Son/Onomah Chadli/Son
I think everyone will be fired up for the Spammers and l'Arse, I am more worried about the trip to Villa and home to Bournemouth, that's when fatigue might set in against two teams who have to win points.
This is a very tricky game due to the timing, and despite an opponent who try to play football. It’s as much of a must-win as any game we’ve had all year, IMO. Get the three points, and four points from the following two would be a fine result. Drop points and our PL season is in peril. Walker Wimmer Alderweireld Rose Dier Mason Lamela Son Erikson Kane If Kane can’t start, I think Alli should.
Every game is vital at this stage, but we certainly cannot afford to drop points this weekend. Hopefully Kane makes it and I would play as full a strength side as possible and not look at coming fixtures. Rose had a top game against Citeh, but his defensive frailties are still too evident (see Palace goal last week) and his speed only serves him best going forwards it seems. So against a club he knows well - and also in excellent personal form - I would slot Davies in at LB. Also just have a feeling that Son is going to have a standout game on Sunday. COYS!!
Charlie Adam busy subtly wumming us on MOTD2 this morning. One of the few people alive I wouldn't mind seeing get run over by a bus.
1-0 Swansea. Big deflection on a shot and it falls nicely for Peloschi. That was sort of coming. Our midfield looks a bit flimsy.
