They've delivered on a low cost alternative to the scheme that was originally planned though. (Not a criticism btw, just a fact)

No new owner of EFC could take the club in without having a stadium solution as part of their strategy. That's been part of the problem why we've not been sold for so long.

To increase the equity value of the club solving that issue is a prerequisite for a new owner, otherwise they'll not make a return in the future. FSG knew the same when they bought Liverpool.

 

Paper millionaires.

They were asset rich and cash poor - hence the leveraged buyout

Their collective 'empires' were built on a mountain of debt

 

But they didn't do it because it was low cost, they did it because it made the most sense considering all factors

True, but they were still billionaires.

My point being, a billionaire owner isn't always a good thing. Certainly doesn't hurt but they also need to have the right mindset and intentions.

Personally, I'm very happy with FSG. They've done exactly what I wished for. The only issues I have is around player recruitment.

 

It means nothing if that increased turnover is swallowed by the increased costs of competing in the PL

Equity value is driven by the asset value and the PBIT.

To buy the entire equity that £200m will become circa £300m, add to that the cost of a stadium solution - £150m-£200m and you're nearly half a billion in, before you've bought a player.

£200m represents a great return for Kenwright and Co and is a fair price imo.

 

I agree, it was based on realism as opposed to fantasy.

The stadium 'losses' were as bent as a nine bob, I think there was some creative accounting by FSG on that, have always said the same. It was a useful write off, that avoided FFP.

 

If you do things right the stadium should pay for itself long term and you'll have profit from player sales to cover new ones

So long as you can stand firm against player wages sucking up the TV money you get £30m profit a year before any new commercial deals
