As most gas heads will know.
The record amount of money paid for a player still stands at £375,000 paid for Andy tilson back in 1992.
Does anyone think we will break this amount within the next season ?

Yeah I predict the fee to be £375,001p :emoticon-0136-giggl

But seriously I'm not to sure DC is the sort of manager that would want to spend that much unless its the right sort of player.

    Time will tell
    I have faith in DC
If he is given a large budget to spend I'm sure he will pick non journey men and ones who want to play for the blue and white.

Well so far DC has done some good business bringing in players (a few duds) with no money and a very small budget so imagine what he could do with a few quid in his pockets.

Not until we are top end of league 1. If we get there of course. Until then DC will, like many other managers, which is sign out of contract players which all league 1 and 2 teams seem to do. They may be journey men, but as long as they fight for the shirt and give 100% every game, that's all we can ask for.
But in the next few seasons if we are doing well and the right player comes along, we could break our record.

I'm not to keen on journey men.
They want the long contracts and only seem to play for the first 3 months and then the last 3 months.
I know money talks in football but we haven't had a gem for a while.
Does anyone know if we have a scout or is that a job for Clarke and Stewart

Can't see us breaking that record for a long time. More players are on short term contracts these days, so as long as we pay decent wages we'll pick up the right sort of player.

If we want a striker who hits the net regularly we will have to

Who would you like to see old timer.
Within reason I don't think we will be paying the £5000 a week for a few seasons yet

I wasn't thinking of any particular player but maybe we could be looking at some of the premiership youngsters. if we could get them on loan for the remainder of the season and if they were any good then maybe a season long loan if they were not available on a permanent contract a sensible wage
We used to be able to pick up some players from the conference but if not how about the teams that are relegated, one player that comes to mind not a striker but a left winger is Josh Carson of York

    He's a very good player
Represented his country since he was 16.
I keep thinking there must be some good players around in the lower leagues then I remember we were their last season.

noticed one of the Gateshead players was now playing for a league 2 side so there are still some worth looking at

See Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo have handed in transfer requests, would it be worth lowering our standards to try and sign them

Careful old timer, some on the red side will think you are being serious and use this against you sooner or later! Someone on here jokingly said we are the Barca of league 2 a few years ago. They still use that against us now believing we actually thought we were the Barca of league 2 <doh><laugh>
