As Brian Moore said, it's not for the referee to give technical advice. Leave them to get it wrong, then penalise them.
Very disappointing half, the Southern Hemisphere teams must be looking at that and laughing their bollox off...
What do the Welsh need to do to get a yellow card? Behead someone? I would be unhappy if I was Gatland. France are brave and good in the line out but inexperienced and look like they haven't trained together much. And Danty is no Bastereaud. Good Welsh defence but plenty of fouls as well.
Deserved try from France. Jonathan Davies has just been describing half the Welsh team as 'brilliant' today. Don't see it myself on what I've seen. Well done on the win though.
Deserved score for France......playing on the fly a lot of the time but have the players now who could develop into a decent side over the next few years.....
France were seriously lacking in flair (not something you say all that often). I thought their replacements made a difference though. I think the referee could have got the scrum set quicker and he was being too pedantic, waiting too long before allowing the "put in". Roll on Twickenham!
France had so many penalties awarded, when you look at the final score they could have closed it neatly by kicking a few of them, easy to say in hindsight I suppose
Not a particularly thrilling game, the right team won without doubt. Unusual to see the French so lacking in ideas.
Unfortunately I was in no position to watch the game. Having read through this thread before seeing the result, I thought the French had won.
Should have been one of the highlight games of the tournament but was a stuttering disjointed affair. Welsh deserved winners but the French are a long way from their usual standard. England v Wales looks likely decider...
Is Eddie Jones the new Mourihno? Nothing but thrash talk from Jones this week. Not very appealing and not very professional. The RFU needs to put a leash on their dog as consistent inflammatory insults about the opposition are not common practice in this sport and will only isolate him and his players. Ridiculous.
Tough night at the office mate? As Sooper says far from the spectacle we got used to in the World Cup. But as always with this game, 100% commitment from everybody. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if the ref was good or bad, and it's a very difficult game to ref well, but we sure saw a lot of him. Unless England have learned a lot from Eddie Jones in the last two weeks I am expecting another attritional affair this evening, discipline, England's traditional weakness, will be key.
Gatland is very happy that he no longer has to do it. I suspect it's much more common in the Southern Hemisphere especially Australia, and Jones has a long track record of it. What exactly was insulting? He just said what everyone knows, Sexton has had too many head injuries.
It was the insinuations that 'his mother should be worried' Amateurish comment IMO. Commenting on the irish style of play, that we "kick 70% of the ball away" when the official stats show that England kicked more ball out of hand than Ireland over the last two six nations. All that rubbish is unnecessary SB and I wouldn't like to see it becoming the norm up here because of Jones. Rugby off the pitch is more refined than that. He's been poking all week. As I said, unnecessary and unprofessional IMO.
