When he was at his keenest I certainly wouldn't have liked to moderate him. Now he's a relative pussy cat. ;)

Nice insight into the world of a moderator :emoticon-0140-rofl:, maybe there can be a game; like something Ages of Empires, where moderators can pit there wits against infamous posters throughout history.

Go on to the Pompey board and pit your wits against SB3 he was probably as bad as you can get. Although there were quite a few others that would run a close race with him. Our st g was a pussy compared to some trust me on that.

They were but mere hacks and irritants. With StG there was a bedevilment, a palpable glee of a man, a penman, who knew better. I remember fireworks on here one night when a pack of young jackels (led by Steinburg) tried to take the irascible old bear down. I very nearly had an oil painting depicting the scene, in the style of the Norwegian historical painter Peter Nicolai Arbo, commissioned.

Even SB3 has toned it down somewhat. Cue repercussions.

That maybe because he can't get onto the saints board.....some of our more senior posters will remember him in his various disguises on the old 606 and in the very early days on here. Especially during pompeys rather topsy turvy times. Not to mention our own. There were a few colourful posters in those days. As well as a few characters that you could not help but smile at.

The only time I have ever felt genuine resentment (as opposed to the pantomime variety) against pompey was when they were above us in the league. Even when we were on the up and their edifice was starting to crumble we couldn't seem to buy a win against the bastards. Now that they are back where they belong, as something stuck to the bottom of our shoe, I can'r bring myself to dislike them. I even sort of miss them.

I suspect that, should Bournemouth ever finish above us, I would experience the same feelings of resentment toward them that I so recently did towards pompey. In that sense, this is a local derby.

One other thing that speaks "derby". We could probably sell 3 times our allocation for this game.

Its a derby rather being "the" derby for us. But the scene is set. We've only played them once in the top flight, and also while being the 2 sole representatives of the south coast in the current top flight.

Last time our league paths crossed for a season, when our promotion rivals were Brighton, and Portsmouth remained a league above us.

Liviing in Wimborne means (like starsaint) I rub up against many Bournemouth supporters most days.

As far as a derby goes they most certainly see it as, if not THE one true one. More important to them than us.
Insulting name for them? Trust me we've already done it, they hate Bompey, no one likes being called a lesser version of a failed L2 football club.
They see us as arrogant, plastic, condescending fans. Something I find strange as I remember throwing coins (ok mainly brown ones) in a bucket a few years ago to keep them going.

I'm afraid my respect for Bournemouth plummeted when I realised what a good bundle of their fans were like. When we played them in the Championship one of their fans was trying to start a fight in St Mary's with a Saints fan walking quietly with his family who was just repeating "Look, please just leave us alone". Then at the bus stop a ruck (100 or so people) started around the bus I was on with Onionman Jr. The final straw was when their fans (and it was their fans) started fighting to get through the barriers under the Northam stand. Then they worked hard to cause trouble after the game. Two games, two sets of notable trouble in these calm days of little crowd violence.

Given past good feeling between the clubs there was every chance of a friendly rivalry but they, not we, have chosen to turn it nasty. I now disregard them entirely.

All clubs have their share of idiotic fans. Just look at the Saints "fans" who started a punch up in Arnhem.
