This board could actually do with a decent music thread. This song is one that my band do a cover of :
Smoking hot chick. I'm not big on metal music, the closest for me is Primus, mainly because of their eccentrically talented bass player Les Claypool
Im in to all sorts mate, just appreciate talent esp on drums as im a drummer. Boring I know! Primus are brilliant btw I didnt know about this girl until @The artist JerryChristmas pointed her out to me on the LFC music thread Last vid I promise, she is seriously good
I'm a bass player, so same goes Back line hold it all together. If it wasn't for us there would be no band !
Aye! A couple of great bands that demonstrate a good bass drum partnership in an awesome way are Chilli Peppers and RATM
Massive Chili Peppers fan. Flea is my all time favourite bass player and a big influence on my style. I basically learned to play the bass listening to Flea and trying to recreate those mental slap and pop routines. He and Chad Smith had a great dynamic. In similar vein and crossing over from that metal/punk genre I was a big fan of Mr Bungle, fronted by Faith no More's Mike Patton
I'm a huge fan of Funk. Probably coming from being a bass player and loving the dynamic between the rhythm section.
Spent many a mashed up night/early hours listening to Mr Bungle mate, now we all have kids and cant do it Great band
Exactly the same here fella. First time I listened to Mr Bungle I was tripping on some double dip Strawberries. Remember those ?
Yes, chemicals certainly add to the experience! Which I think is on their minds as well when they write this stuff and they pull it off, brilliantly My very very best experience though has to be listening to Californication on shrooms camping when they first released it. Seen them live 4 times, great band I liked one hot minute album as well although the band hate it!
Funnily enough, the first time I listened to One hot minute I was shrooming back home in South London Loads of those bands were LSD freaks, especially RHCP. Your camping experience sounds like a good one. The craziest experience I had was watching the Ozric Tentacles at Reading festival back in the early 90's on LSD. It was when Concorde was still flying and the festival site was only a few miles from Heathrow. I remember laying back in the sun listening to those psychedelic guitars from the Ozrics and the sound of Concorde powering up as it flew overhead meshing into the sound, then seeing it glide overhead and looking just like a guitar with all of these bright colours coming out of the engines .. lol
I was a pro in the business, a long time back now. But, LSD ****ed up quite a few people back then. It was a major cause of the loss to the business of a great musician & and an old friend. His name is Peter Green.
They only dont like it because Dave Navarro and not John Frusciante is playing guitar (the latter had been with them from early days) Its a great album and Dave added a rock element as well with his writing, got some great songs on that they wont play live unfortunately Frusciante has since left again and now Josh Kinghoffer is on guitar now who does a great job tbf
