Yes. But. Some won't detonate (especially the ancient Soviet ones). Some will be shot down. Most will be fired at large cities.

No one would bother nuking Mansfield for example. (The remains of Sheffield, Derby, and Leeds will provide you radiation though.)

Many Millions will die initially. Many Millions will die of cancer later. Many Millions will die of starvation after that.

Humanity won't be wiped out... Just returned to the dark ages. The ones that die might be the lucky ones. One day society would rebuild to nuke itself again.

If England got nuked everyone would be seriously impacted but not everyone would die.

The vast majority of the deaths wouldn't be from initial blasts it would be from radiation, civil instability and starvation. Some people would survive.

Bastarding Netflix have blocked DNS codes for US content.

    ****ing Netflix.
This is exactly why I download.
I wouldn't see any harm in downloading if you have a Netflix subscription, I mean you are only going to be downloading content you should rightly have access to anyway!

Exactly...they'll lose a shed load of customers. Maybe not so much from the UK as it's not a huge disparity but Australians and Kiwis have no content on their version....

I don't mind if they keep their promise to change all the antiquated licensing laws predating streaming to free up global content but I'll not hold my breath...

Aye; the times me mam went for me with her slipper <laugh> She didn't hit us hard, though. When they carried her out to the private ambulance there was nothing left of her. She wasn't tall but she was stocky. She wasted away to nothing.

Me dad never raised his hand to us, he didn't believe in hitting girls, which is right, but hitting the kids is seen as abuse now, Quite right, thought a think a lack of respect is somewhat of a result of lack of discipline.

my mum would belt us but if really angry she got my dad to do the punishment
    1. she didn't trust herself not to go to far
    2.he was really effective

the reason for 2 was he would only spank us if it was really serious and just the fact that we had been so bad that dad was involved was punishment itself (he hated having to do it and hardly touched us though he was built like a brick ****house) and we all hated it.
mind you though mum was quite happy to whack us no-one from outside the family were allowed to even criticise without incredibly good reason.

i should point out although we would get smacked no damage either physically or emotional was done as i have just looked at it and my childhood sounds dreadful but trust me it was brill it was just i was a little sod who deserved everything i got :cheesy:

Just watched A Bronx Tale on netflix, forgot what a good film it was. Also noticed The Warriors is on netflix, have to watch it just to see how dated it now is. In it's day it had the newspapers up in arms that it would encourage gang violence and the world would end. It didn't and life went on, but some prats dressed up a bit to copy The Warriors

The trouble is mate, the community starts in the home. In my working experience the root cause of all young people's problems start there. And I'm not just talking about "parent discipline" as is being repeated on here by others as some sort of soundbite and cure.

The vast majority of problems in our youth, particularly in the deprived areas I work in stem from disfunctional home life. Ignorant parents, socially inept parents, missing fathers or mothers, among other things, resulting in psychological and emotional abuse.

It all impacts from a young age. And the solution lies in tackling the problem as early as possible. Often by the time they reach their late teens or 20's the damage is done (although not necessarily irreversible).

I dont see social workers having a direct impact on children's behaviour BUT educational psychologists (Ed Psychs) are worth their weight in gold. I have seen children as young as 5 to 10 who have real psychological and emotional problems e.g. biting others, swearing, violence and in particular, NO sense of boundaries (NOT bcos their parents werent strict enough but actually bcos of underlying detachment disorders or other disfunctional home lives) having their behaviour completely turned around by the work of Ed Psychs working with parents and schools. I'm talking about children you could see being complete delinquents 10, 15 years from now. But it needed a collective effort and parents, wider family and school to be actively involved.

That's where we need to tackle the problem, but it requires money, resources, training and the will to do it. That's where the community is failing them.

Yes a tough approach has its place but it ONLY works when it supports a loving and caring environment. If I could stress ONE thing that hasnt been mentioned so far it would be that the key IS building a relationship with children. What our most troubled and diseffected children and young ppl need is that void filled. Parents, teachers, the wider community to show a real interest in the children in their care. I'm speaking from experience in my work with children and building a relationship with the child has been at the root of all my successes with children who were written off by others. I'm afraid the use of punitive measures without dealing with the underlying causes, primarily relationships, only aggrevates the situation and leads to further problems.

Btw in the example earlier, anybody think to ask why those kids are playing in a car park? Where is the actual park for them to play in? And if there isnt one, here's a thought... let them play in the car park. Isnt that community? When I was a kid, we played on our street. When cars arrived we got out the way. Neighbours would park up, often say "alright lads" or make a joke. Isn't THAT all community??

Apologies for the long post, ok rant over <laugh>

    On Netflix.

Sorry but people were cheating the system with the dns stuff Netflix should have licensed the content globally but they've chosen to cut the loop hole.

I would expect them to be following up with content or their growth will stumble fir sure.
