What feels longer? The gap between when the season finishes and then starts again Or The couple of weeks off we have off every single Feb whilst everyone else plays football? it drives me bloody nuts, i just wanna watch us play, I get fed up watching all the other teams play on the box, infuriates me! theres no plus from it either, you get the likes of Chelsea or Man City who are clubs full of international players who have next to no break, and a high proportion of their players are involved in 3 games a week and have very little in terms of a break in the summer, yet their injury list rarely gets up to half of the numbers we have!
Massive advocate of a mid season break for international football reasons, so I think pre season feels longer. I fully believe if we want to be successful or at least give ourselves the best possible chance of being successful, then we unfortunately need to change our ways. Like most things to do with sport in this country and football more than anything else, we're just too happy to bury our heads to what is blatantly obvious. Instead we fall back on phrases like "I see no reason to change" "That is not why England aren't good enough" "If they can't run around for 90mins then there is something wrong with the world" etc etc. Horseshit and backward. One thing is for sure, our lot better give a whole lot better showing after this mini break. Their conditioning should be spot on, they should be refreshed, they should be well drilled (particularly defensively). If not then I'm afraid the coaching team are failing badly. Not many teams get this kind of luxury mid season. I don't mind this break but I am ready for more watching us now - although based on the season so far I think that makes me a bit sadistic. You're right too, the squad should be in ridiculously good nick conditioning wise. Warm weather training, fitness coaches left right and centre. We should be getting close to a clean bill of health, and they should be in shape to not pick up much over the coming weeks. To be honest this break has piled pressure on the coaching staff. If we don't improve, physically, mentally and tactically then you'd have to ask the question - can these guys cut it? Last chance saloon for me. I'd have bullet ages ago but really having spent all this money, had this mid season benefit, even the most ardent supporter of this set up must accept there are no further excuses.
Not a massive advocate of mid season break as am more interested in Club football than International football. I'll support in England in the Euro's and World Cups but much prefer the daily, weekly and annual grind of Club football. For me a question of whether England won another World Cup or Newcastle won a League or FA Cup ( not bothering about Premier League ) is no question at all; Newcastle to win something any and every time. I believe that the demands of International games are impinging on the Club game. I really get hacked off when we have the International breaks. Just reduce the number of pointless International games for a start. That would have the effect of reducing the traveling and number of games the top players have to play. That would improve our chances without having to have a mid season break at Club level. I guess most people prefer too watch their club play ahead of watching England play and on that basis it is the internationals which need to be adjusted and not the club games. Combined with the fact that it is the clubs who form the pyramid which the England team sit at the top of. We shouldn't mess around with the clubs and fans otherwise the pyramid might just fall down before the Sky bubble bursts.
I can't stand watching England these days. I used to love midweek Internationals, but the prima donna brigade have taken that enjoyment away. There are also far too many international games now. Who gives a **** about England playing Latvia or some other small nation that provides zero competition?
Why do I have this feeling we'll see comments from pundits along the lines of "you'd think Stoke were the one's who'd had a break in Spain" or "most of these players look like they're still on holiday".
I hope not. I genuinely hope McClaren et all turn this round and prove me completely wrong. I don't even see what you are saying happen to be honest. I think it could be more a routine 2-0 or 2-1 defeat with Steve saying "well we played well but we just didn't finish our chances and in this league you get punished eventually"
Just shows how Newcastle are at the forefront of innovation in the English game. No other club can claim to have pioneered the introduction of the mid-season break even before the league decided to. I am sure other clubs will look at our March to May performances and appreciate the benefits it provides us.
Nah, "Smilin" Schtevey Mac will say "things are looking amazing. Yeah, we lost, but you can't win every time and I thought the way we played was incredible. If it weren't for the lack of shots or possession we would have won by a cricket score. We cannot wait to get out there and prove a point next time, because there's no way this team's going down". He'll still be saying it when we're relegated - there's at least four people at that club need locking up.
I believe this while good to be incorrect! Im sure he says or i will unwind your head and **** down your neck. I could be wrong
No breaks. For anyone. What do they need a break for?! Advocates of breaks fail to realise that: A) a break will mean having more games in a tighter space of time. B) a club can give someone 2 weeks off if they need it. There is **** all excuse for being knackered at the end of the season beyond repair, and that is categorically not why we lose international championships. Spoiler alert, we lose because we play fat slobs like Rooney, out of form, out of touch, but apparently world class on FIFA 16. Bollocks to internationals and the morons who pick international teams.
Don't worry, in the Championship you're guaranteed 46 games each season so should get to see your team plenty
