Cheers, UEFA. Two English teams meet each other and the other one gets arguably the toughest draw? **** off. Lazio get the easiest draw, too.
Rather Dortmund than a trip to Donesk to **** up our next prem fixture, a double header against Sevilla or our bogey tean Basel. Probably Spurs, Dormund or Sevilla are the best 3 teams left in it, so we'd have to play one of them sooner or later, so why not now?
Exactly. Or we could coast through a few easy rounds playing the likes of Midgetland or Augsburg which would just make us look slightly better than we really are. Just play Dortmund now and then take it easy all the way to the final
The games come before matches against Villa and Bournemouth. At least they're not before Chelsea or similar.
We’ve had an extraordinarily difficult draw at every stage. A very tough group, then one of the three strongest teams, then one of the other two. If we win it will have to be Sevilla next. I’m fine with this as well. The great atmosphere last night owed at least partly to it being #2 in the PL versus #3 in Serie A. Another top team will be a treat for the fans.
Can't wait for this tie. I know I said I wanted to avoid them before but now that it's happened I'm delighted. The only reason to play in Europe is to test yourself against the best. We're either better than them or we're not, if we're not, no point wasting our time and energy playing smaller teams before losing to them in the final! If we do beat them, this will give us a huge boost for the run-in.
Don't worry we'll breeze the final, particulary if we play a second rate team like Manure or Laugherpool.
Just looked on Reddit to see the reaction to the draw. Top comment is from a Dortmund fan: "Might be the hardest draw possible..." We've been good recently, for the most part, but have we been that good? It's weird seeing things like that and the post-match comments from the Watford and Fiorentina managers.
Both Dortmund and Spurs are second in their respective leagues. Both have lost 3 games. They've conceded 24 goals in 22 games. We've conceded 20 in 26 games.Their GD is +30, ours is +26. Their league is made up of mostly weaker sides than ours. Advantage Spurs, to my mind.
