http://www.safc.com/news/20110726/safc-agrees-deal-with-retail-giant-_2256213_2402055 The club has signed a multi-million pound deal with sports retail giant, Kitbag. Leading online sports retailer Kitbag operates the official online stores of football clubs including Barcelona, Manchester Utd, Chelsea and Real Madrid, along with a range of other organisations including the RFU, F1, the Ryder Cup, Open Tour and Wimbledon. The global organisation, which also operates the retail divisions of a number of professional sports clubs, such as Manchester City, Everton and rugby's Leicester Tigers, will take over Sunderland's three existing club stores, along with its online and mail order services from June 2012. The partnership will expand and grow the club's retail operation both domestically and internationally. Margaret Byrne, CEO of Sunderland AFC said: "We are absolutely delighted to be aligning the expertise of Kitbag with the club's existing retail operation. They bring with them a wealth of experience within the sports retail sector which can only enhance the service we offer to Sunderland fans." Andy Anson, CEO of Kitbag added: "Sunderland is a club on a real upward curve. It has a rich and proud history and is taking great strides forward, both on and off the pitch. "We are delighted that Kitbag will be part of this journey and from a personal point of view, having being closely involved with the club as part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup bid, I'm thrilled to be once again be working with such a dynamic team of people." Anyone know very much about these people?
Kitbag are huge mate, they sell shirts from top clubs from all continents. I don't get what's in it for them, if it's a 'multi-million' deal, i'd be surprised if they can shift enough of our gear to justify it, but it can only be good for the club.
That's not a lot, so hopefully they see some reason to expand this. (where i don't know). But a deal like this can only be good for the club.
Where are the 3? The stadium, Used to be one in the town (is it still there). Where's the other? i'm guessing the galleries. 20 supporters in Jersey, maybe just a small shop then...
There's one in the stadium (obvously), one in Washington, and I think there's one in Debenhams in the Bridges?
when i was back home theres the Stadium 2 in the Galleries, one at the airport, and i went to a new retail park who had one isnt there one in the metro center
To be fair, Lesley Callaghan did try to get that extra 10ft stall in Jacky Whites? Lol Seriously though, our off the field approach to obtain commercially targeted revenue, is a million miles from where it was only 5 years ago. Well done to all concerned as it can only promote the club in a better light.
