Midgetland was still only a goal from winning the tie...guess it'd be a bit of a gamble to get the kid his hat trick, as great at that would have been.
This really is a crap long drawn out competition. Started back in July and nearly 8 months later we still haven't started the round of 16. It's gone on longer than a series of downtown Abbey ffs. Can't wait to be back in it again next season. Should be a better format though.
Whilst I don't mind ManU beating FC Midtjylland [because them remaining in the Europa League is a good thing for Saints] I didn't want them to win by such a large margin and end up stumbling into some good form. We want to be able to have the odd hiccough and still pip them nicely for 5th place. Now if only Man City can get themselves just a wee bit more distracted by the Champions League...
So in the first sentences you damn it and in the subsequent you can't wait to be back in it. Make up your mind!
Well done Spurs for beating a good Italian team. I am sure many on here would like United to fall on their sword as they are CL dropouts whereas Liverpool and Spurs are there on merit. Athletic still in there, and unlike United and Liverpool and most of the others, are a team built on the the local talent that they recruit in the Pais Vasco region and for that reason I would like them to hoist the trophy at the end of the season.
It will be an interesting summer for Leicester. If they win the league, will anyone seriously want to leave? To the two clubs you mentioned I suppose, but there'd be absolutely no excuse for going anywhere else in the PL. Leaving for Man City or whatever would be the equivalent of shouting to the world, "hey, I'm a mercenary!"
Imagine this scenario. Liverpool win the EL and finish below us. Chavs win the CL (a horrid thought by the way) and finish below us!! Would that mean 6 PL teams in the CL. Then the EL places would go FA Cup winners unless it is won by a team in the top 4 or Chavs. So in theory EL places could go down as far as 8th or 9th place.
The Leicester players are having the time of their lives and will probably want to stay, but I don't think they share this fear of being thought a mercenary that fans seem to have. Players may very well want to go to a 'big' club for several reasons, including more money, and other footballers would understand completely. It's their career and they have dreams like everyone else. In a short career, most will want to have a United or Arsenal on their resume and to double their wages.....and so would we.
Here's hoping all remaining PL clubs get a really difficult draws & LFC are at home 1st - might assist us a little on the weekend 19-20/March. Every little helps.
I believe that we can not h ave 6 teams so in that case then 4th place would get Europa. Also I'm pretty sure that if we have 5 CL teams then we lose a Europa place but not 100% sure.
How do we know the best do want them? Apologies if there is more sources but Tom said it's from the Sun I think Mahrez would be a bit silly to jump straight to a Spanish giant even if true. He's 25 so better off going to a top English side where he will play every week n if he performs then the Spanish 2 WILL be in for him
Tongue in cheek JWP. I hope te player stays with Leicester and ignores going to United where they will probably have a very high profile player installed by the beginning of next season. Someone like the international striker, Pelle who must be worth 50m as he can score 15 goals a season maybe more. They can give us Mata in exchange OK that was a dream!!
