Doves and Alabama Shakes are two of my favourites. My 6 year old lad likes Jake Bugg - He's going to have a decent music repertoire I reckon ;)

It might be heavier, but it's nowhere near heavy enough for my liking. I am prone to a bit of Norweigan church burning metal on a Friday afternoon after work. The irony of working at a C of E school is not lost on me.

After all the effort Chazz has put into making a decent ( for once ) match day thread, you're turning it into the friday night music thread. Enough FFS

The match is on the Friday, you know.

    It's only right.

Yeah, the music that was prevalent during growing up definitely influences your preferences. I don't listen to Oasis much now, but when I do it brings it all back. Nostalgia!

Forgot Cornerstone too. It's a criminally underrated album when you compare it with their others. It's the like the middle child of Arctic Monkeys album.

Has Jake Bugg tried to sound like Dylan on purpose, or is it just a coincidence?

My youth was a bit dark, it started out with things like Smashing Pumpkins, The Offspring, The Prodigy, Sonic Youth, Nine Inch Nails and the like, but by the end of Sixth Form it was all Suicidal Tendancies, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Turbonegro, Rammstein et al.

Dropkick Murphy's are my favourite all time band, they just get better every time I listen to them. Especially when you are pissed.

I have a feeling he might rest Davies for Maguire and either bring in Hayden for Meyler.

I don't like Bugg either. Back in 2012 everyone at school was saying he was the next Bob Dylan and I just thought he was a bang-average unoriginal indie singer-songwriter with an acoustic guitar.

My 6 year old likes him. I'll take that! There's far worse genres he could like aged 6!

True. He's not bad but I just don't think he's original.

If you're talking popular beat combos you'll have to go a long way to better The Sweet.

If he likes it, encourage him to learn. I only really developed my music tastes when I was 15. Before then I didn't really have that much of an interest in music. I regret not learning an instrument properly. I can kinda play piano but I'd like to learn guitar or bass; I'm just busy with uni and stuff.

We have, he's got a Ukelele for starters. I gave up the acoustic guitar, I liked it but too many other interests came first.
