  1. TBH, I could go on about this subject all week <laugh>

Its something I'd like my organisation to look into doing but not something that (a) my board are particularly keen on because there is always consequential damages to these type of schemes, and (b) a lack of funding for this type of activity in this area despite it being one of the higher concern areas in the country.

There is a (c) and that's the PC brigade bollocks.

I think they need to be treated like normal human beings and be given a fair chance. Imagine being a teenager hearing what older people think about them. Being generalised as hoodie wearing thugs just because a tiny minority of people their age have committed crimes. People like you have already judged them before they get a chance to speak or do anything, you said yourself if you spoke to a youngster about playing football in a car park they'd give you abuse, how can they defend themselves if people have already made their minds up about what type of people they are?

  3. I don't judge beforehand, I regularly have to ask youngsters not to play football in the car park and regularly get abuse in return. However, it isn't all of them. Some of them are very polite and speak how you'd expect them to.

Youngsters are already treated "normal human beings" before they disrupt and cause problems. It's called school.

But that's what we are talking about..give them the opportunity within the community to get to know the community and reward them in a tangible way that means something to them...after offering this and they choose to be little bastards then make the penalty harsh..

If someone is given every option to improve themselves in a realistic way and they ignore it why should the community put up with them.

If you aren't productive you are of no use to yourself or the community and should be removed until you can be. This is at the end of being presented with opportunity of course...

Act like a human being and you will be treated like one.

I think that's just the general feeling Lucas... i don't think i necessarily treat all kids like that but its just a stereotype. I would like to think a lot of people including myself have an open mind to most people until you start speaking/seeing them in action before making up your mind. That's not to say i don't have my own stereotypes in my head and a general feeling for how i feel about different types of people.

I'm sure not every ISIS member is a islamic fanatic (some go because they've been mislead, some are just stupid, some have been made to work for them) but i'm sure going to be judging ISIS members on screen as evil ****s who all deserve to die

I am noticing a pattern here in terms of political leanings,
I am left of centre, Greez is right wing and Lucaas is extreme left.
This is how our racism conversation went too :)

  9. Quite enjoyed the debate tbh. Not often we get something serious going on these boards nowadays. Well, apart from the politics and conspiracy type threads which I have zero interest in.

Do you see yourself that way on all topics?

I swing depending on things..left/center on things like education, health..equal opportunity etc

Right on things like small central govt and law and order.

  11. I'm not sure where I'd fit in tbh. I don't really take a political group view, I have my own views and speak my mind.

I've had arguments on here with others when it comes to things like border control, bedroom tax (shambles of a name), nhs, etc but equally I've agree with the majority on many other subjects too.

It's also good because we are respectful of each others opinions and it hasnt been hijacked with heated arguments between Sisu and Tobes and any others who like to try to wind sisu up

    Well, I don't agree.
Because its foolish to say you are right wing on some things and left wing on others, purely because each political topic has HUGE impacts on others.
Like Someone says they are left on Health and education and right on Small central government and law and order.
So a right winger on governing and law and order would naturally be in favour of tough policing and tax breaks for the rich.
You think that won't negatively effect education, health and equal opportunity, 3 topics which you claimed to be on the left wing on?
We have seen what tough policing is doing for minorities equal opportunities in the US right now.
And less tax for the rich = less money to spend on Education and healthcare.

No disrespect to you personally, but when someone says something like, "I am liberal on social matters, but fiscally conservative"
it makes me want to go......

    I'm the same lol..

Think central govt is there to do the bare minimum..defence, and protect certain universal rights...access to basic health, education and a minimum standard of living and the minimum of our taxes should go to achieve that.

The majority should go to local authorities as close to communities as possible who should be left to put it where it will benefit the community as much as possible.

I dislike it when central govt spends Money on one size fits all initiatives because one size never fits all. Not even in things like policing and education.

Of course because poorer areas will produce disparity in tax income you have problems with my view but I naturally dislike a govt that involves itself in every aspect of people's lives because Westminster is now filled with professional politicians that no longer and rarely did come from the communities they supposedly represent.

Too simplistic I suppose but I think we should always resist central govt mission creep.

Funnily I would have been seen as a classical Republican in the US before the nutters took over...

Not true...saying that you want to be tough on punishment doesn't mean you ignore the social aspects that create crime and won't invest in them. And is not inevitably linked to giving the rich tax breaks??? You can have a dim view on damage to community property as well as private?

You seem to be confusing modern day parties and their actions that have been tagged left and right wing when none of them remotely look like their original versions of themselves and attributing their declared versions of right and left to me.

I actually believe big central govt leads to the "looking after the rich" it gets filled with professional elites looking after those that keep them there.

Keep most tax income in local areas and it has more chance of going to the areas needed there.

Health and Education can be tailored to fit what a community needs while having to provide a minimum standard.

Take Blairs vision of 50% of school kids going to uni...seemed bound in socialist principal but was nonsense.. It was attempting to say look not just the rich go to uni..what happened? Loads of **** worthless courses and high graduate unemployment while sending the message that trades and non graduate work was inferior.. Not remotely socialist in practice.

True; though he had 59 years of her nagging and I feel sorry for him now <laugh>

I know the Japs were worse than the Gerries, but it's odd how nowadays we seem to show the Japanese more respect overall than the Germans. I suppose it's all the bowing and stuff they do, we see it as more reverent. When we went to see Japan v South Korea at the Bronze Medal Olympic play off in Cardiff, though, they played the Japanese national anthem and my husband refused to stand up.

I was weaned on every war film going and me dad used to moan about Germans carrying Japanese rifles! <laugh>
