I have no idea what the verdict will be on the two extra charges. There looks to be significant doubt, which should mean a not guilty verdict, but it depends who the jury believe.

If he is only convicted of the two admitted offences then I suspect he will get a very short custodial sentence. As much as there is a natural feeling of wanting them to throw away the key, in some ways it would be right if it is a short sentence. When you look at the sentences some truly vile offenders have had, it would be wrong to treat him worse than those. If that seems unfair then we should be calling for longer sentences in general rather than focusing on the AJ case. We should expect consistency from the legal system. It should also be a cold unattached decision and not an emotional one. I would expect a maximum of 12 months with 6 served. That is IF he is found not guilty of the other two offences.

There is enough reasonable doubt there for him to be cleared of the two 'other' offences. I agree. I think he will get a relatively short sentence [if any.] I am sticking with 6 months, with him serving 3 for good behaviour. I think the fact that his life is ruined will be mitigation for anything longer.

At the end of the day, he knew she was 15, but he still carried on with the affair. Perhaps that shows us an insight into some of the modern footballers mind. I am not tarring them all with the same brush, but there are a percentage of them that think they can do and get away with anything.
He knew it was wrong, but he couldnt help himself! The thought of being with a young naive girl was all consuming I think and he just kept going. Thats what some people do, they know they shouldnt do whatever they are doing, but they cant stop themselves or they decide to just carry on in the belief that they will get away with it. This is the same for all people with addictions, whether they are chemical or physical. If this had happened 10-15 years ago we would never had heard of it, it would never have come to light. It is only with the advent of the Saville tragedy that young or older people that have experienced these things, have the courage to speak up and actually believe that their voices will be heard. I bet there are a lot of footballers ****tting theirs pants as we speak!!! This might be just the first water over the dam, before the deluge of complaints comes flooding over all the arrogant footballers and sportsmen of recent times.!!

Wrong... This report is from 1999

Graham Rix, the Chelsea football coach and former England international, was yesterday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment after admitting two charges of unlawful sex with a 15-year-old girl and indecently assaulting her.

Rix, aged 41, of Richmond, south-west London, looked shaken as the sentence was announced by Judge Timothy Pontius at Knightsbridge Crown Court, central London.

The judge told the former Arsenal captain that he would be released after serving half his sentence but that he would remain on the sex offenders' register for 10 years. Rix had pleaded guilty to the charges at a hearing last month.

From the evidence I have heard so far, I would be astounded if he did not get a custodial sentence.

Given the amount of nonces who've escaped prison for much much worse I think he'll get a suspended sentence. Sentencing is where the justice system fails imo.

I know that it shouldn't influence the case, but the fact that Saville et al are back in the headlines may just count against him..Hopefully..

Soft-touch judges let thousands of child sex offenders off with just a slap on the wrist. Out of almost 7,000 child abusers found guilty of sexual activity with children, a shocking 2,862 avoided prison – more than 40 per cent.

Most were given community sentences while 605 received suspended sentences and 41 got only a FINE. Another 1,700 sex offenders got away with police cautions

I posted this story ages ago as a reference as to what happened to Rix, things have moved on so much more now it wouldn't surprise me if Johnson got a longer sentence than Rix got all that time ago.

Adam Johnson - "a man who had pretty much everything"
Prosecutor Kate Blackwell QC: “By his own admission Adam Johnson is not a man of honour.

“He is a self-assured arrogant man who has accepted that he was attracted to this girl.”

She went on: “Adam Johnson is a man who had pretty much everything; a glittering career, beautiful girlfriend, a comfortable home, a lovely daughter more money than he could possible spend.”

Pretty much sums it up or me; on his path to ruin other people's lives he's ****ed his own up, selfish prick.
