Well, if we win this, if we keep another clean sheet....well! I am going to talk to the Saints Shop and insist that they stock red and white striped Sandals! Nice job, Fats.
Looking forward to this one! Chelsea have really turned a corner so you'd expect a really tight game on Saturday. My team: Forster, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Targett, Romeu, Clasie, Davis, Mane, Austin.
Yup can't drop long. We could always revert to 433 and have long, mane and CHARLIE ****ING AUSTIN. Just a thought...
4-2-4. That's the Southampton way. A front line of Long, Pellè, Austin, and Mané, with Rodriguez on the bench for when we need to go to 2-3-5.
How about 4-3-3 transitioning to 2-3-5 in attack? We'd need 2 pairs of flying wing-backs though. 1 pairing for each half.
Chelsea have shown in recent weeks why they're champions, but MK Dons, Man City Youth & Newcastle misfits all gave them too much space to play. We have to get in their faces and turn it into a battle. If we can do that I'm not sure they will have the motivation to match us. I think they see their season being defined by the champions league and FA cup and that'll be their focus
When was the last game that neither Long nor Pelle started? Koeman loves having someone 'good in the air' to provide an outlet.
I personally think in terms of the front 2 / 3 then Long is the first name on the team sheet at present. Can't believe that anyone would drop him. Get him running at and terroising Ivanovic!
I was never a fan of the Long signing, and have been pretty vocal of that in the past - but if Pelle starts instead of him it will be a travesty
I'd go for 3 at the back again. With Costa, Willian and Oscar to worry about Bertrand Fonte and VVD will need to be on their mettle. Romeu and JWP to provide cover, Targett and Soares giving width, Davis Pelle and Long.
Who drops out Romeu or Davis? Not digging at you but it shows how many options we have in midfield atm even with Vic out!
